$200 fine, 7 days impounded, and impound cost. Doesn't seem like much, but it's a start. Hopefully they are able to press charges as it appears they are trying to do.

On another note, 18 year old registered owner of a Lamborghini. It must be nice

A base model gtr is worth 45x what I paid for my 97 talon... more money than brains....

Oh, and a side note, in Ontario. I am pretty sure that they are still impounding street racing vehicles, a fine of several thousand dollars and I believe that they can crush your car if they like.

I could be wrong tho, seen a couple of civics crushed. That was pretty cool.

.

If you get caught racing you get a fine, impounded vehicle and the ticket is probably speeding, plus racing.

If you get caught several times racing, then in very very exterme cases they will crush your car, since its being used in a criminal act.

Street racing isn't as bad here as it was 5+ yrs ago, but as far as I know.. if you run they won't chase, I've never heard of cops doing high speed pursuits here.......

Still, its not worth the risk, especially for people like me who require to have clean insurance records for work insurance purposes. We also pay ridiculous amounts of insurance premiums even with clean records.

Mom, they like totally impounded my car... its like, so not cool.

I want to know who won. Lol j/k I'm glad it happened. People with more money think the law doesn't apply to them. Especially over here. No matter what age. I personally don't race on the streets for that purpose. I would rather go pay $20 at my local track and be able to keep my car at the end of the day. I don't think that fine was High enough though.

how do you get your car permanently seized? that makes no sense at all

But they will radio ahead and set up a road block like they did to my friend Stuart when he ran in Alberta.

Seizing cars for a first racing offense is completely retarded IMO, especially considering the pigs have absolutely no proof that racing occurred, all they have are witness complaints.

Unlike most of us heavily modded DSMers, those guys have cars that can run WOT for an extended duration with complete reliability, and live in an area where police rarely (if ever) chase. All they need to do is throw a fake plate on the back and be smart enough to drop the hammer next time.

(Flame suit on)

Never stay on the same road, that's just common sense. Take the first or second exit and attack a few back roads (again, don't stay on the same one for long) and you're home free. Of course the real world adds a lot of complication to this, but if traffic is very light it's easily done if you're smart about it and drive within your limits.

I'm sure nothing will come of this. Mommy and daddies lawyers will find some technicality and the probably won't even pay a fine. I'd give it a week and they will all be back out driving the lambos and merks. And if they don't get those cars back they will probably have brand new and faster ones the next day LOL. It's kinda sad really.

I know talk of street racing isnt permitted but the scene here in Philly is rediculous, hundreds of cars, everything from Honda swaps to Skylines. They got off the hook way to easy but it'd be ashame if they crushed the cars. Its all mommy and Daddys money. Here some people could care less if their car gets impounded considering some of their engines are most likely stolen anyways. It takes 5 police cars to catch 1 car, suprised these guys get caught but theyll eventually learn. Stuff gets alot more dangerous than people think, for example. 6weeks ago a guy lit his car on fire because he lost in a Pinkslip race. I've only seen two DSMs in that 3parking lot full of cars where you cant even fit a bike in. Spoiled kids can pay the fines, stuff is rediculous..

There's also the problem that you probably have one of only two or three of that car in the area, hence all the cops have to do is look up who owns a Aston Martin for example and go from there.

but as far as the story goes, +aren't us Canadians badass?! :p

Glad they got tagged but it won't do much considering their family could afford the car in the first place. Someone will get payed off/layers will get involved and back on the roads they go like said above. It's dumb to think people with this much money don't have hardcore races on the track instead at least there you can have some high speed twisties, not straight line speed only.

I doubt it will go anywhere. You have that much money to waste on expensive cars and they think they can't hire good enough lawyers to get away with it? It wont surprise me if they don't weasel some way to get cash out of the government for impounding their cars.

More info for those who care...

Not long ago, the gov't changed the law regarding drinking and driving and speeding. The new laws are BS IMO. Excessive speeding is 40kms over the limit, and they will automatically impound your car for 1 week as well as driver risk point premiums. All this is done on the spot, with no chance to fight it in court. No due process at all. In addition there is also a law of civil forfeiture for anyone using their property to break the law. This was originally intended for grow ops and gang related problems.

Recently there have been a rash of impounds of sport bikes that were caught by RCMP helicopter. The fines are astronomical, and you have to pay them for the next 3 years. All fines must be paid up front before you can renew insurance or license. If you get caught again, the price just goes up.:notgood:

In regards to this event, the police have said that there is not enough evidence to file criminal charges, however, the most recent development of this story is that 5 of the cars are going to court for civil forfeiture. No word on which cars they are but rumor has it the drivers admitted to speeding.:ohdamn:

All the drivers were between the ages of 18 and 21, with one of them not having a valid license and a few with probationary licenses.

Canadian laws are absolutely insane IMO.

I would be burning public buildings if someone seized my lambo because i admitted i exceeded the speed limit (which of course you NEVER do).

Only B.C. has that strict of laws, or at least I think so. I know SK is no where near that retarded. B.C. is also an "idle free" province.

That's all chinese students are in canada.

Rich mommy and daddy pay for them to come to school and get "edumacated"

but they somehow con the rents to buy them nice cars and all they do all day long is show boat!

The statistics in china is something ridiculous where the ratio of millionaires is 1 Million people are millionaires in the Country alone..

That's the reason why these Kids can afford shiet..

I would hand that 18 year old kid a rock the size of my thumbnail and tell him he can keep the car if he can scratch the every last bit of paint off with the rock!

Wow, $196 for street racing? Hell you probably pay that much for a parking meter violation in New York. I had to pay $94 because my exhaust was a little loud, and this was in a rural town where everything is cheap.
