A vacuum pump makes a world of difference.
Been wanting to know more about this.

- Vacuum pump tee'd into the brake booster line and wired into the brake pedal switch
Think I talked to you about this at the shootout.

Curious if anyone is using the Hella Vacuum Pump from Summit since they claim a 29" assist which would be a big help even over the neutral blip.
Would like to know as well the Dorman. Im just up the road from Summit.;)

yes backwards for vacuum. I recommend putting a switch on it so its not on all the time when you are on the brakes.

Nitrous is the way.

Tighter converter is not the way.

just picked up one of the mv50 compressors.. first thoughts are that its a little heavy, but well worth it for the braking power it adds.. Also its loud, i was thinking of mounting it under the dash, but have decided to mount it somwhere in the engine bay.. I bet you get some funny looks, when you hit the brakes, and that thing fires up! LOL

Great info! I too am curious as to what the auto guys are doing to get up on the stall quick at the line.

If you are mostly stock, what is the best way to come up to the line an jump right up on the converter without NOS. is there a list somewhere? sorry to jump in, just seems like this is the best thread with really helpfull info on launching at the track

from what I gather the best method is when you stage (first yellow light) put the car in neutral and rev the engine, then while holding the brakes put the car in drive and inch foward to deep stage. Then rev up the RPMs to get all the way up on the stall and to build boost, then go.

Correct me if im wrong someone.

Before I was running nitrous I would do just as J_Heath said. Creep up and set off the light for the pre stage, pop in neutral, rev the motor while standing on the brake pedal hard, let the rpm drop a little and put it back in gear. Mash the gas and when you start to build boost slowly let off the brake pedal and use the e-brake to set off the second stage light. By that time boost should be up enough to get a pretty damn good launch.

isnt that almost neutral dropping it? or not really because you are let the revs drop. correct me if im miss understanding.

Not neutral dropping it.

First off, Thanks to everyone who contributed. With the Auto craze exploding, This site needs a lil more Auto info. I have been all over the net looking at options and I have come across some stuff.
The Vacuum pump is a good option. Seems like the best. But, I found something that may also work, a hell of alot lighter and not dependant on the 12 volt system.

check this out....

How do you guys think this would work coupled with a vacuum canister?
Maybe it would take a step or two out of the staging ritual. Maybe amp the vacuum while the next lane is doing his burnout?
Any thoughts?

edit- boosting Laser why did you mount your cam in a fishtank? LOL
