I'm just getting frustrated anymore. I have been looking for a nice 1g for OVER a year now. I've went to look at a dozen, all of them junk. I am talking to two more people about them and both seem to have lots of issues and want way too much, just like everyone else. I wanted to get one before the snow hits so I could drive it in the winter but probably not now, and Every day I see 1g's going to scrap, perfectly good ones. Just annoys me that they are all going to be gone soon...
Anyone else have similar feelings?

I feel the same way. The 1gs are disappearing fast. All the ones I've seen are way too expensive and need way to much work just to run. I used to see them all over but now everybody want's the 2g. I've actually been kicking around the idea of getting rid of mine if you're interested PM me.

You're not the only one. I bought my 2 FWDs about 2 years ago. That took me a while to find them. It took me so long I developed a crack-like addiction to search for 1Gs for sale. I still have the addiction, but during the last 2 years all the cars have disappeared. I almost went to Iowa to buy an AWD Laser, just to keep the guy from parting it and crushing the shell. It was just too far away, and it would have meant my DD was going to the junk-yard. So no-go. All he wanted was $700.

I know what you mean, I've been seeing '91's with 16gs and fuel mods going for 6k! Cars with 200k+ on the clock with stock motor for 5k? I don't get it? I'm still kicking myself for the 1g i passed up for 600, all it needed was a new mas and a recirc tube. :ohdamn: And I wish I was a more capable mechanic or I would have totally not passed on a few shells I've seen that are now probably crushed.

Ummm... I bought a black 93 Talon awd (MT) for $500 back in December. It was very complete, and very OEM. It had a fresh re-spray, and the only thing wrong with it was a bad gearbox (stuck in 4th). I raped it for parts, and then sold it for $500 to it's new (very happy) owner. Just be patient, and don't wuss-out over mechanical issues; that's what we're here for. Since seeing your post (this one) I saw some really appealing 1G cars in the Tuners classifieds. Even in PA, no less. Go buy one, and let us help you put it together. That is how you save a good car from the crusher. Trust DSM Tuners members: We all, apparently, have nothing better to do. This website went from "Make your DSM have 500 HP" to "Let's keep these lovely POS's out of the crusher", overnight, about 50 weeks ago. You are very not-alone. Go buy a shell, and have faith. Worship and sacrifice a baby goat to the Tuners classifieds. If you really want it, you'll get it.

All I can say is good luck finding one that hasnt been rode hard and abused. I am currently having this problem with mine. I have currently replaced about 2000 dollars in maintenance parts and the car still wont run properly in stuff that was falling apart. My car has serious electrical issues, I am thinking about redoing a whole new custom harness for the car. Starting to wish I would have bought a 2nd gen gsx instead of a 1st gen. It is cool owning a car though that is becoming rare and in a couple years will be called a classic.

If you have access to the link forums, there's a really nice 90 for $4500, looks to be built exceptionally well.

It's definitely getting harder to find a good 1g. What's a real shame is that I just went to my local junk yard last weekend and found two 1ga's in really good condition without any damage whatsoever almost completely stock. I kept asking myself what could have been wrong with, and may even the owners just didn't pay up on registration.. I did end up pulling both of the 4bolt rear ends for $200. The just sad to know that they will be on the verge of extinction LOL..

Every 1g is for sale; everyone has a price.

I found my 1g for 900. Had a major oil leak. Bad CLT sensor and O2. Replaced and fixed. Been running it since. Have had a couple of issues but nothing big. And my car was BEAT to all hell:( But she starts every time I get in it. And runs 13.4s on stock 14b:)

I never really noticed how rare they were becoming, but ever since I got my own I haven't really been looking to much LOL. I do feel kind of like a bad ass though when I have the car up and driving and I get the occasional thumbs up from a 2g guy or I never see another 1g.

You guys just dont know here in denever I found TWO 1g shells for 600 bucks, one is a maroon shell and another is a black tsi. I just want to buy them and save them for when I get parts I can build them to DD status. I did crush a 1ga GSX becuase the floor had bottom out way too many times and it wasnt repairable but that was from the PO so im guilty, but I couldnt do anything to save it. I did take all the parts and will find another shell to clean up, so I feel you guys on trying to save the 1st gens.

Three letters: PBR

One word: Pregame

I just saved you a c-note a weekend!

IMO, there are two categories that 90% of the 1gs left fall into.

There is either the lightly modded ones, that have been completely hacked by young kids that have no clue in the world what they are doing.

Then there are the 1gs that have been gutted and made into a drag car. Which is cool, but not everyone wants a gutted out drag car.

When I had my 1g, I strived to make it fast and yet very streetable. I never wanted a gutted car or shit removed for weight. Its so hard to find a nice clean 1g that hasnt been destroyed. I keep my eye out for one all the time. If I found one of those bone stock low mileage ones, I might pick it up.

I have my evo now. I think of getting rid of it all the time for a 1g. Evos are gonna be the same way as 1gs soon. So I figure I might as well hold onto it, before they all go to crap too.

Its truly sad to see the 1gs go. I still love the cars, no doubt. Its the fact that they are just being hacked and destroyed that keeps me away from them now.

Some of us old folks are somewhere in-between. ;)

Trunk plastics out; full interior otherwise. Beefy mods; thought out steps getting there. Real wheels, not a knockoff part on the car anywhere, etc. (Hideous paint :p)

Mostly, however, I agree.

The only truly nice 1g that wasnt ridiculously overpriced that I've seen would of been my first one, my 92 talon. Knew the guy that sold it to me, had been asking 6k for it though (so it was overpriced at the time probably) I mentioned on the forum he's on that I was looking for a 1g and had a 4k limit, he messaged me he'd take 4500 for it.

Bought it the next day :)
Payed 4500 for it but I thought it was for sure worth it:

Now I'm in the market again MAYBE for another 1g.
Gotta say I'm not having much luck either, especially since this time I'm spending even less.

I'm basically restoring mine. I don't understand why people think DSM's are cheap cars to fix and go fast. I've spent more in supporting mods then my friends with hondas spent in a year.

But the Hondas are sooooo slow.:tease: Unless you're willing to put a lot of time and money in them too.

Been there done that! My friend's civics each making 300whp off cheap vitara turbo builds, and running 11's. while I was still running 12.7 with about equal money into my car. Damn light sons of bitches.

I never cared though, I at least had AWD :p

My buddy has your first gunmetal 1g in his garage, Clinical LOL.

Its def hard to find a nice, clean, well put together 1g. I can def appreciate a nicely built 1g. I am actually looking into trading my evo 9 for a very well built 1g and 10k cash. Im just waiting to see if he has a buyer first. :)

I'm looking for a 1ga talon, or a 1gb eclipse. It has to be FWD, have a sunroof, mint interior, less than 100k on it, crash free, and rust free. My car is pretty clean, but the rockers are heading south in a hurry. I've found a couple, but they seem to want quite a bit for them.
