Damn Thomas, take that! On a side note, Thomas 1G was indeed a POS, gotta agree with him on that. Can't say I liked the grimace convertible any more but +1 on the 1ga. I might be in that area this weekend I dunno, I'll hit you guys up on the NorCal forum and maybe we can tear more into that motor.

The 2ga a bumpers are fuggly, and so are the headlights. Why not change them to make the car look considerably better?

I wasn't compairing to the two cars, not even close... What I was compairing, is that many in the VW world have a hardcore OEM everything mentality and like to bi*** when other people decided not to follow the unwritten OEM rule of owning a VW. Sorry you didn't get it, but I really wasn't expecting everyone to get it, as not everyone here knows much about the VW world, Bro.

Well, I've never been a huge fan of the 2gb Eclipse front bumper, nor the rear for that matter, but they both look better than the 2ga Eclipse to me.

I had been planning on getting the BC2 body kit for years, but recently, I've chickened out. It just doesn't look as durable, as high quality fitment and looks a little out of place to me now. I'm just going to keep an OEM ish look.


When I bought my 95 GST, it had a foggy headlight light (still does!), and I've always liked the 2gb headlights better. They just look more aggressive and nicer.

Now, if I can find an inexpensive HID headlamp kit for my car, I'll get aftermarket headlamps and HID kit, but I haven't found anything I like yet. (I just want to see farther, honestly, so I won't hit anything at night)

I hit a stray semi tire in the highway, cracking my front bumper. Not bad, but just another excuse I needed to replace the foggy lights and the bumper. Not just cracked, but with 111,000 miles of wear.

In order to use the 2gb headlamps, you need a bumper than can fit it. Like the 2gb! The 2gb bumper has room for a larger intercooler too, which I plan on getting eventually.


But I've decided to keep the 2ga rear spoiler and side skirts. I like them just fine.

I never said you were. I made the comparison just as you did. Swapping bumpers from various models is VERY common in the VW community. I have built many euro vehicles and VWs are not an exception. Basically it is no different. The use of OEM parts from one sister brand or vehicle to another for the purpose of maintaining a someone 'factory' appeal through subtle modification... You are way over your head arguing with me about such things. You're talking out of your ass at this point.

I'm packing my shit in my 2ga talon and towing it with my 2ga eclipse. When it breaks I'll switch over to the Talon and tow the eclipse...Taking turns until I get there.......Eventually I can just park in the sand and do that all day.....

After being in the DSM scene for 3 years. The order of sexiness of 2gs;
2gb Talon (so aggressive with all the curves and lines)
2gb Eclipse (pure sex)
2ga Talon (eh its not bad)
2gb Eclipse (the smile in the front just haunts your dreams, that smile is... nightmare fuel)

Regardless of what stock bumper is on your car.. Even a 2ga would look sexy on that! The only thing i'd do is trim the piece in the opening out, or paint it black.

im just not a 2ga guy.. its not the bumper, its the headlights that kill it for me.. id prefer talon stay talon and eclipse stay eclipse but a talon 2gb conversion is expensive so 2ga talon with 2gb eclipse front end is acceptable in my book
