I need a magnetic drain plug for a 1G MT trans. I need to drive my 92 GST to Minneapolis for my brother's 40th b-day. Tomorrow. I knew my axles were bad. I scraped-up the money to score new ones. When I got the old one out, on the driver's side, it only had half a snap-ring on it. The other half is still in there. In the trans. If you have one,and can meet me, pm me ASAP, tonight. I wish I had the balls to put my cell # up here! I have no choice but to drive this car, I love this car, but I know this ####er has half a snap-ring floating around in there, too. None of the local stores had a magnetic M18 x 1.5 drain plug. My bro has excellent facilities for me to fit the plug, and I have cash. I'm in a tight spot, just asking Tuners for help.

Feels like I'm trying to get laid on Craigslist! :shhh:

Man, its probaly where the diff is, You may have to pull that trans and its case to find that thing. I always remove the snap rings, cause they suck. It probaly just didn't fall in the pan. If it did your lucky.

So, you don't have a magnetic drain plug, I guess? I'm sarcastic. I've already done a 90 mph lap around the factory, and 20 more DD miles on it. I'm driving it to meet you tomorrow. I think that half-snap-ring is sitting in the bottom of the trans, near the drain plug. I suppose I'm betting on it. Knock-on-wood. I paid attention to the rings on the new axles to make sure this doesn't happen again. I've also had trouble with other snap-rings doing the same shit lately. I don't trust snap-rings anymore.

well if its laying in the bottom of your pan and you want to put in a new magnetic drain plug why dont you just drain the oil and try to fish it out by putting a strong magnet to the oil pan and swiping it to the oil drain hole? unless im missing something here?

Because it's gassed-up and loaded to go to Minneapolis 1st thing tomorrow. That would be the only thing you're missing. It isn't a tech question: I want a strange man to meet me at a rest stop in rural WI, and sell me a magnetic transmission drain-plug for $5. Kinda creepy, huh? M 18 x 1.5. Thanks for the reply, sexy.

Comeon!

Don't do it. Hes crazy! o_0 Like I went to his house to go get this engine right, he comes out, with a beer in his hand, tells me to pull my pos truck in the street.

Then I made the mistake of stepping on his grass, *he landscapes* he FREAKED, I thought he was going to beat me up. Anyways after he had 2 more beers he settled down.

We traded engines, but then hes like I need some stuff off of it. So he just starts vice gripping the front case and water pump bolts. I just let him have his way. I just left, and cried on the way home. :notgood:

Now he wants to meet me tomorrow????? I'm really scared, he said he has some lug nuts or something....?? idk I made a police report. Idk how he got my number either.

He said he had some nuts for me... Hes like meet me off 39.... I'll be in a tinted dark colored van.

ROFLLOL this is getting to be very very finny but also very very strange LOL i cant stop laughing though so it must be good right? or am i just as sick and twisted as you guys? or are we normal and everyone else is all high strung man!

Also, just read you remove your snap rings? What? Your halfshaft has nothing to hold it in place then.

I drive a FWD and never had a problem, yeh technically they can come out... but I have never had that happen. There isn't enough play. Its possible though.

Buddy of mine removed his cause he told me he took out the "ABS clips..."

Then his axle came out right on the first test drive.

Woo.
