Shoulda got a GST?

Hell no.

You know why? Everyone gets a GST.

Not a lot of people have 2.4 SRT Eclipses. This thing is BAD ASS!

Hurry up and finish this thing, I'm so hyped on this!

theres no replacement for displacement. pretty cool project you have there.

Yea man, that thing looks like it should be pretty fun it's an N/T anyway so you're replacing the 420a with an engine of the same origins. Keep it up! I always enjoy people swapping new and creative options into whatever car and if it's an N/T, then how can anyone look down at it? It's not a precious 4g63 in the first place!

Well i didnt go looking for the cars they pretty much came to me. The srt was bought in 05 as a rollover and was going to put in the wifes 2000 neon but it started acting up so we traded it in so i was left with the srt. I then tried to part it out and wasnt having any luck so it sat all this time.2 to 3 months ago this eclipse comes into the shop front end hit and i was looking for a driver for work it totaled and so i bought it 155,000 miles. So when i poped the hood and i was like that looks familar and started planing.

So excited to finally see someone doing this swap. Cant wait to see more progress.

Heres a list of stuff that need to be dealt with when doing this kind of swap. Mortor mounts 3 of them 1 being a real pain. Trans mount. Wiring. Cooling.emisions.fuel delivery freaking plastic lines.clutch more plastic lines and no bleader.shifter and shifter cables. A/C gota have it. Exuast. Fmic?and hoses. And have the computer anti theft dissabled. I think ive got the axels figured out and will post tomarro. Am i missing any thing? Goals make it look like it belongs thier and working properly and to learn about turbos. The engine has some aftermaket stuff on it but i dont know enough about it to mess with so this will be learning experince.

Ive researched it thier was talk about it, and a poor atempt at it and when compare pic of his install and my mock up pic ther are a lot of differences.

Sounds about as hard as swapping in the 4g63t into a Dodge or Plymouth Colt. Don't be scared, just do it. Good luck man, hope you get it together. Don't get discouraged, or give up.

Except that the Colt (Rebadged Mitsu/Captive Import) that came with the 4g61T are usually the ones swapped. That swap is stupid easy. Then to go awd you just need an evo 3 rear or a DSM rear and minor fabrication skills and a custom length driveshaft which you can have built for about 300 bucks at nearly any Truck Driveshaft and axle shop.

I am pretty excited to see this. I love swaps. I've owned or help build several swaps. Mirage/colt/summit, 420a to turbo 4g63, etc. Nothing gets me more excited than custom swaps like this. I've allways wanted to do a SRT-4 swap into a 420a dsm, or a evo 4g63 into a 420a dsm.

You better see it through to the end..or I'll find you:|

:D:p

When you are all done and got all the kinks worked out, do a nice write up on this for all the 420 guys, they need it..j/k

Maybe i need a better pic for that area will post when i get to work. Thier is like a 4 to 5 inch gap between the firewall and the turbo. Thies only like a half inch gap between the intake and the rad, sorta like neon.

This is me knowing nothing about the Chrysler platform....could you use an Eclipse 420A head on the SRT block to locate the turbo at the front of the engine bay instead of being slammed against the firewall?

Won't work as far as I know. You can run SRT Internals in a 2.4 cloud car block with a DSM 420a head though.

If u notice thier is a overflow bottle on fire wall its from the neon. Its using a left over hole from the 420 a cruise control. With that on the fire wall and power stearing pump being more compact, the only thing on the right apron will be a/c stuff and a engine tork mount.

If u need a pick of something just ask and i will acomdate. If u have a question i will try and anser it to the best of my abilty.and yes my spelling suck. For some reason my spelling bar is not showing up

Dude, this is pretty cool, but I too would be a little worried about the heat that the turbo manifold will be producing that close to the fire wall and all the things on it!
You have Brake line right there and I'm sure you don't want those getting to hot and the line that run to you heater core(good thing about THIS is during winter you heater will work exceptionally well :thumb: haha) if you don't melt them.
And some other wires I see on the fire wall I would try to protect more!
I'm not saying this to be negative at all, because i'm not even sure how hot it may get. I would just be caution and protect the valuables anyways to INSURE nothing would go wrong! :D

I would like to see this thing work also, just hope you get it all worked out to your best benefit. Good luck and keep us updated!

Ok heres something to think about, and im not being a smart ass. U have the exugst manifold then the turbo then u have 2 ruber hoses conecting inlet and outlet piping. And if ## looking at the pick the turbo is farthest from the engine. Im not saying that it wont be an issue. I guess if its built chech it with a laser temp gun.

If heat is an issue just put some heat mat on the firewall, DEI would probably come through for ya. Alot of turbo models put the turbo up against the firewall, just look into how they combat the heat. Looks like a neat swap, and you've started it with minimal investment so it might not end up being way overpriced. Hope you complete it.
