Hi there everyone, been looking around the forums and havent found this kind of thread yet so here it is

Alot of guys take thier cars to a shop and let them do all the work, which is fine i guess. But I'm a hardcore enthusiast and I jump at the chance to work on any kind of vehicle, motor, system that can be fixed with elbow grease and working mechinicism.

So post up your tools whatever they may be

Screw driver sets, full tool set collections, or a fully fit working garage with lifts and etc..

Heres mine

Well what exactly do you mean by "tools" I have 2 3'x2'x5'tall craftsman tool boxes that are over flowing I need to buy two more boxes to go on top. And also have 1/4 of my cabnets full of mechanics tools. I have so many tools for construction that I could fill up a 6'x12' box trailer if I had one. All my ladders would have to go on top though. I buy 3-5k in tools every year.

i took this pic of my front mount but its the only pic i have of the tool box, also have 2 full snap on cabinets. only have a picture of the lift with my old eclipse on it, it really comes in handy. sorry about the garage being a mess:p

Take a picture of your tools postem here. You can open all the drawers to the boxes like a display and show em off.... kinda like with your engine bay, take a look at my OP

Awesome! You have your own personal lift and a garage that fits all your tools?!Man, i wish i had that! :banghead::cry:

With a car lift like that, I would fly right through all my repairs!
You are one lucky ass mofo, sir! :thumb:

I need to get some jackstands and post up some pictures!

I saw something about jackstand ballin LOL

Does anybody have special tools that normally people wouldnt just buy?

well within the past week i just got the engine hoist and engine stand from harbor freight. my dad has tools that are all older than me :D LOL and recently since i got a job at chrysler iv'e been upgradeing our collection to everything from lowes (kobalt (all his stuff is craftsman)) and my uncle lives with us but hes a union carpenter so most of his stuff is woodworking/plumbing/electrical. ill get some pics later of my garage and basement.

O.P. GREAT THREAD!!

Harbor Freight has some freaking awesome tools, they have anything and everything you could want! I got stuck on craftsmen because of the lifetime warranty and if I break one of my tools I just take it into sears and get a new one no questions asked

I told somone I worked with that I was using nothing but craftsmen tools and they told me I might as well go with Snap On but then I saw the price difference and was shitting bricks. Ive never had a problem with a Craftsmen tool but I've seen some broken snap on wrenchs

Can't go wrong with craftsman. I broke a 1/2 inch ratchet by trying to get a bolt off with a 3ft pipe on the ratchet, bring it to the store and walk out with a new one. They did ask me how I broke it but I just said trying to get a bolt off

yeah iv'e broken a few of my dads craftsmans but iv'e never had a problem with either getting a new one or they replaced the internals. luckily i haven't broken any of my kobalt yet. yeah snap on is crazy expensive! but i feel your paying for the name. i mean as long as it has a lifetime warranty. really what difference does it make? i mean sure some styling of the metal and what metal they use to make the tool out of, makes a difference. but like you said u and i have never had a problem with craftsman. im trying to upload pictures but i cant seem to figure it out!!

You will notice with most of their tools, they are of a better quality. Like their ratchets have finer teeth so you can get that 1 or 2 clicks in a really tight space whereas you might not be able to get even 1 with another brand. Also, their socket sets and wrenches are tougher whereas they don't flex while you are turning a bolt which eliminates stripping a bolt or (slipping) off of the bolt.

But 99.5% of the people here would never need snap on, hell... I don't even use all snap on.
