good luck sir....Im in the process of doing the same thing...I have all my bolts in there each zip lock bag labeled with what they go too, that way it will be alot easier when it gets put back together this weekend!!!

Had a little bit of a break. Buying a short block in good shape for cheap.

I used tape. Put a small piece of tape on each bolt with an over-hang to write on it. The ziplock bag would probably have been easier though haha.

and the age thing im 24 and ive pulled ###### 10 motors including the one in my old evo, a couple dsms, a srt4!! The sad thing is I just dropped my tranny 2 weeks ago to replace the clutch!!!

Lol. I feel your frustration. Im still building my car up to get it road worthy, Ive had it 2 months and only drove slow down the alley. I got my car non running and in pieces tho, runs now just trying to replace everything I can think of and swallow the bill knowing its going to be sick when its finished.

WOW your a skinny bastard aren't you..Good work tho..

Ohh your girl is my age so I can say shes cute..LOL

He is skinny because he has no money to buy food and now that he owns a dsm and is rebuilding the engine he might wind up in the hospital he will be so skinny from not eating for days because of his damn car. Get ready for the never ending project car that you always seem to find something wrong with.

I would totally not rebuild the bottem end outside. But thats up to you. As everybody else said organize.

Idk if anybody mentioned but I can see that you have a 7 bolt from the girdle. You will need to, buy new main bolts. Along with getting the crank machined.

But LOL seeing how this thread is turning into a * I PULLED THIS MANY ENGINES by the time i was etc*

I pulled, 2 engines out of my cars in 1 day, swapped blocks on one, dropped it in the next day. I then drove 80 miles to pick up another engine* helped a little bit pull that out*, drove back and had it installed the next day.

Now that I think about it, For it to be cheaper why dont this kid swap blocks. Be hell of alot cheaper.

No worries i spent a few weeks rebuilding my first motor for my 95 gsx. Put a few thousand miles on it. Then sold it to a kid who blew it up within 4 miles of the purchase spot. How rude.

He is getting a new crank and i think he knows about the main bolts. He has everything organized.I think he wanted to rebuild it for a learning experience.

LOL thats ... LOL thats horriable. To have seen his face when it sputterd and died out. He probably kept his foot on the gas. Did he come back and asy anything? was it his fault?ROFL

Yea man that would be awesome. It is going to be a couple weeks before I get the short block but it will speed things up and be cheaper than buying all my parts separately. Let me know when you can take a ride over and we can do something.

Yea man I need my DD and need it soon. So you bought a used long block? I should have bought a short block a long time ago. Then bolt on my new head and drop her in. Would have been smarter. I am still going to use my Evo 8 pistons and rods though.

Yea I would like to have a strong feeling that it will hold up for another 163K LOL. After the engine is done I need to replace some other stuff. My new caliper on the right rear is messed up but it under warranty so that helps. I have done just about all my maintenance prior to the engine going out of it.

I've always been this skinny. I don't know why but..it works out I guess. This is my 5th DSM and it didn't take long to realize how things break one after another.

GL keep us updated.

I sure will man.

As I said before, I just found a good deal on a short block off of a buddy. Has everything I need, bearings are good, everything is on it but the head. Which is what I need. I am still going to use my Evo 8 pistons and rods though.

You lucked out on that one.

Yeppers. Anyone can swap out an engine. I wanted to learn a little bit so I can build more of these damn things.

need a 7 bolt head?

Nope. Still have my new head I bought. Came with new EVERYTHING and a 3 angle valve job so I am good there.

LOL thats ... LOL thats horriable. To have seen his face when it sputterd and died out. He probably kept his foot on the gas. Did he come back and asy anything? was it his fault?ROFL

It was a nightmare. I drove it 2 hours to his town so he could buy it. He called me right after it happened (so about 10 minutes after he bought it) so i went back and checked it out to be a good citizen. The motor wouldn't even turn over. He was pretty pissed but yet again so was I. All that work and you give the keys to someone else and they wreck it? Kids these days

What was the hardest part about pulling the motor out?

Honestly, it isn't very hard at all. Other than the thought of having the money to replace/rebuild the engine, there isn't much. As long as you have the tools to do it, it's not bad at all.

Now if you don't organize your bolts/nuts during the process, it will make life hard when you go to put it back together.

Money makes everything easier. And a garage too.. Engine swaps arent as fun in the sun or without an engine life, been there done that. Anyways Goodluck! watching the updates.

Yes, a garage would be awesome to have. Working in the sun is terrible. Last month, I got burnt really bad when up at dads doing the head swap. I got sun poisoning, kept throwing up, and literally felt like I was dieing. But I finished the head swap after 5 days. Just to find out I had a bottom end issue as well.
