I got caught in some crazy ass thunderstorm over here in Oklahoma and was kinda strugglin, but i survived. the VR4 felt very planted to the ground. felt real safe in the rain.

Yeah, we got a bit of the storm, but not very much. As for that ride I'm being half serious. Haha. I live in the very far north east corner of Arkansas. That'd be a bit out of the way.

13th straight Shootout for me! I think I get more excited every year.

Im going to make it yearly thing from now on if i can but that weekend will be booked from now on.

I will be leaving friday morning from Mount Pocono Pennsylvania between 10-11am. If anyone would like to follow us on rt 80 there are more then welcome to. Also if we have any issues the require towing I may need a hand. Here is my Phone number incase anyone should break down on rt 80 and they are on my way. 570-872-7906.

I had no intentions of going to the track saturday morning and was looking foward to the car show/ hang out/ dyno day on saturday like it has been. Oh well.
Heres my situation right now. Both dsms are almost ready. Just need an alternator bolt in the 2g and the 1g is getting some water pipe work, more weight reduction and a good cleaning. I'm almost packed and getting food tonight.

Honestly... Has anyone ever gone to the shootout and had a bad time and refused to ever go back? I mean seriously, Think about it. This will be my fourth shootout in 5 years. I hope to continue to make this a yearly trip for me.

A few of my favorite shootout memories-
First year just me and my one friend went and took my old tsi. Crusing down rt80 in ohio when an r32 gti wanted to play... getting rained out saturday night when we went to cedar point and getting rained out sunday morning so we went to Dennys for breakfast only to wait for 20 minutes for a table because the entire parking lot and dining room was full of dsmers. Dave99GST didn't even know us except for saying HI and asking our names when we struck a convo about dsmlink and he gives my friend a serial cable for free. HOW COOL IS THAT!?
Second year. Same friend came along and we brought our girlfriends with us and he brought his car as well. both got 29mpg there and on the way back. Did cedar point. ( top thrill dragster is amazing) .went to dyno day. watched amazing racing came home. Amazing time!!
Third year. More friends, 3 cars, drove on a blown headgasket and got 31 mpg. ( because I'm either that dedicated or stupid, not sure which) Someone donated a headgasket to me and offered tools to do the job. ( thank you club michigan dsm and club west virginia) People also left spare change on the wing of my car to help for towing if it broke down. Got John Shepards autograph. AMAZING TIME once again. Made it home in one piece with oil pumping out the overflow jug when I got home.
Last year I skipped due to some family things.
And he we are now, present day. getting ready like I always do for what looks to be another great time in Ohio.

This will be my 5th shootout in a row, 6th I have been to (2000, 2007,8,9,10,and now 11). My dsm's have never made the trip . Now I don't even own one and wouldnt consider missing a shootout. I am staying at the All American Inn and Suites, again, we will be in a grey 2000ish intrepid (cause i dont feel like driving my 14mpg stang )

Some people may remember my old red 2002 Monte Carlo from shootouts past (took it like 3 years) and the dumb shit I used to window-chalk onto it. For example:

My wildest shootout story involves the 2007 rainout, and a 270 degree hydroplane turn across three lanes of the Ohio Turnpike, where i hit precisely nothing except the rear bumper on the guardrail which put a scuff about three inches long on it. Didnt care, was happy I wasnt dead, drove home.

And do us all a favor guys, if you do some dumb shit, and get caught, dont run like the ass-hat in the silver evo did last year. That just caused everyone a bunch of hassles as the cops were coming down to all the hotels all pissed off looking for the dip-shit. If you want to beat on your car, wait till Sunday.

Other than that, bringin the Yuengling from PA (cause the ohio boys cant get it) and getting ready to have a blast.

haha. All the dsmers that dont bring a dsm always seem to write something about being broken on the windows. I dont think it will ever get old. Its sadly so true some times.

Can't wait to see everyone out again this year! Racing DST again this year, broke the trans last year, best heads up race of my life the year before... funny part is I got beat and it was the best. Broke my axle 3 years ago... What a blast!

I will be riding shotgun in a grey Intrepid .. Ill look around for ya. Or find the fat guy with a can of Yuengling lager in his hand. We will be getting there between 9 and 10 friday evening.

Sandra, It wasn't me at MIR but I think I remember telling you guys good luck on a message on tuners a while back when you had a big race there. We will stop in and say to hi friday night when we get to the campground.

I'm sure he will be at the shootout but will we be graced by the appearence of a certain 1g going down the strip looking to reset a record? I have heard nothing about shep other then he was doing some testing for nissan gtr transmissions that hes been working on

Ill defiantly see you @ the campground ! I contemplated going to cedar point on Saturday night also , ill have to see what the others in my group want to do. I've already been there this year and im going again in October but that don't mean i cant go again



Yea Shep's talon is supposed to be there, I hear he blew his turbo all to hell, but im sure hes got another couple laying around.
