Was driving home last night and all of a sudden the back tires sounded like they hopped and then i heard a grinding sound coming from the transmission/transfer case area. I was out in the middle of no where with no cell reception so i had to drive it home. Today i pulled the transfer case to make sure it wasn't that and its still having the same problem. It is only when it is in gear and it is a grinding/clunking/knocking sound. When its in neutral i can free rev with no issues or sounds whatsoever. Also i can feel a vibration that coincides with the grinding from the tranny. I am about to start pulling the tranny but is there anything that i should look for as i am starting this process? It was a new tranny with lsd front and 4 spyder center so idk what is going on. The problem occurs in every single gear no matter the rpm. It had an OEM TOB on there as well. Could this be clutch related or am i talking major transmission overhaul? Lemme know.
