I figured that when the pictures were taken it wasn't ready to be driven. You don't strike me as someone to drive around without an air filter or coolant reservoir.

Correct haha its getting put back together today though, this was just a mock up pretty much until I can get a bracket fabricated for it.

May have already been said, but to my knowledge, these dampeners aren't meant to dampen vibrations, they're meant to dampen the twisting of the motor under load.

It would make more sense to bolt it to the front or rear roll stop and then to...I don't know....something considerably more rigid than the radiator support or firewall and at the proper angle.

It would be great to be able to bolt something like that onto the head or one of the intake manifold studs (EDIT: throttle body stud...intake manifold stud would be too far away) and then to a reinforced section of firewall.

I see these alot on 240sx' and cars with straight or v-6s. It's infinitely easier to do on longitudinally mounted motors.

Thanks for trying though. The angle you have isn't really a problem. I know, I had one in my previous car with that angle. Your problem was that you sat it to low. Try to attach it to a part of the engine, not the mounts. It will be more efficient that way.
In my previous car I had it attached from the strut tower to the back of the engine about the same angle you had yours.
You can tell the difference right away when you drive.

Try finding a spot and hook it up to the front of the car via the engine holder for when you take off the engine to the front of the frame of the car.
That thing that sticks up by the exhaust heat shield and valve cover.

I was out at a garage where I had some work done and there was a Honda in there that had a front damper put on. I asked about it and the mechanic said it was a poor mans way to "fix" a bad mount.

To get the most out of it IMO would be one at both sides of the motor (firewall and radiator) to help keep it centered. I don't know how well it would actually work though as I don't have experience dealing with that.

Yea the firewall or radiator support would be to flimsy to bolt it to, thats why I put it on the strut tower, and yea the strut bracket is way to flimsy as well, im gunna geta real bracket made, and get a real bracket made to bolt to the motor

I was trying to say this... and yeah, I have experience with these. Yeah you can say it's a way to deal with poor man's motor mounts but bad or not it does help... When I did mine, the difference was night and day. For 40 bucks verse dishing out hundred for motor mounts...

Disregard my old engine. It was when I first bought it and didn't have time to clean it yet.
Green was what I was talking about and the purple was how I had it in my old car. It didn't go to the valve cover of course it went to the block under the manifold. But my old car wasn't an eclipse though LOL.

so i think you were going for this, but look at the dampers orientation in this picture, which is correct and if anything you should put it in the other side of the engine which the strut tower is closer to the head. but it needs to be in a straight horizontal position to work.

^^^ exactly, I wasn't going to leave it like this, it still needs more work, but that is what im going for.

The cars been down for about 8 months with a problem somewhere that I CANNOT figure out thats keeping it from running good, so I really havent got a chance to get anything fabbed up yet. As soon as I get this problem taken care of the damper will get finished.
