I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

Pretty good deal... Also you have a 99, which has the updated block/bearing design, which means no crankwalk :thumb:

I would change that from "no crankwalk" to "less chance of crankwalk"...
crankwalk can happen on anything.. even 6-bolts...

But yes... I am hoping with the late 2g upgrade/change, it will keep it from getting this dreaded, infamous, DSM disease.

That would be considered a steal here in California.. Especially after taxes man.. Good grab! Especially running... When I bought my most recent 1G.. Everything was broken.. No kiddiung... I spend $2200 Before taxes.. Not including Maintenance, Taxes, or registration.

Um ya... I'm feeling good...
Possibly good enough that... maybe I could to drive to Cali, and fly back! ;) LOL

Only 2 pics I have really.. the second is after I swapped my (rear) rims...

This car replaced that green "bu" in the background.. (named bu because the decal was smashed... was a Malibu :) )

Beautiful man, Im envious. You will never want to drive your malibu again! :D

I did the other day (after not driving it for a month)
I thought something was wrong with it.... for obvious reasons... LOL
(*is the emergency brake on??? something behind this gas pedal???*)

Nice looking Spyder, so you want to know what it's worth? Hmmm... what is this dsm worth, let me think :hmm: Oh woops did I make that a link? Silly me I didn't mean to do that ;)

Don't worry about putting iridiums spark plugs in it..Most of us run ngk.. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/233421-spark-plug-faq.html

I really like that car, even tho it's fwd..But I love drop tops..

I read this:
Sparkplugs.com - Spark Plug Dyno results
And was able to get them for the same price as the lower grade ones....
And they ARE ngk... don't know if you caught that or not... but w/e

This is true LOL. Ive had several break downs with my awd. My only other option of a vehicle was a malibu. Sad to say, I drove the malibu just as much as I did my awd.:barf:

Shoot... not cool... we well see I guess.
mines not an awd, which may or may not be a factor.
The fact that "being a DSM" was used in a bad way, makes me... nervous.

That is very interesting..Thanks for the link..I was tought at school there were no "preformance" spark plugs..That was also on a .050 gap..Which most of us run under .030...Even tho the manual says. 032..

I thought that the whole "premium plug" thing was 100% marketing...
Turns out it gives 2.76HP pretty steady...
A literal shock, and that's why I wanted to see A dyno test :)
So ya.. I always try to do the research for myself to double check...

EDIT: true about the gap... I want to find another dyno test now :)
