I have a chance to get a 16g big, 16g that comes on the EVO's, or a few more. My question is which 16g should I get? I'm looking to make 400whp or a little more I was thinking around 30lbs or so. Also when does 16g's max out? And will I be risking killing my turbo around 30-32lbs?

Okay ic thanks. Since I got the wastegate flapper welded shut, and I am running a 38mm tial. Will it help with the boost not falling off so much when it spikes ? What else would it help

400whp can be done on an Evo3 16G. But why? Its not going to last as long as a bigger turbo not running 30psi... Check out my mod list, that's what you have to do to make 350+ whp while not boosting the hell out of the 16G. At 21 psi that 16G will be happy for a long time.

This thread is awesome. Not too many people bashing the newb and giving VERY helpful advice. I also have the 16g (though which one I'm not sure of) so I got some good info here.

Thanks.

Gotta love threads like these. Also happy we got some good info posted on here. :)

+1 on gt35r my dream turbo 16g= nasty boost creep. Make sure you port the wastegate flapper atleast. I still have creep though. good for fwd if awd I would look at a fp68hta ive like what i have read so far on it. Anyone running one to dime in?

It honestly felt like a 16g. I got if pro tuned by "blevinsTuning" on 25lbs and it hit really hard. But when I took it off I was like god that's looks like a 14b to me.

Why is the big 16g on the bottom ?

The small 16G is more efficient than the big 16G until they are both maxed out.

Small 16G@18psi > Big 16G@18psi.

Big 16G@25psi > Small 16G@25psi.

But honestly, don't get either of these, get an Evo3 16G.

B16g's are 350hp all day but in order to get in that 400hp range you really have to think about how much you are willing to spend of consider getting a hx35 hx40 but check out the 16gs dyno slips and then check out there build and see if you are willing to do all of that work

EVO3 16g has done 400 w.h.p. on average setups. Boost, that is how it is done. You run +28 psi on a well laid out setup that can actually breathe and the power will come. Most guys are trained not to crank it higher than 21 psi, once you get over that reluctance and start cranking the boost, the power gets ridiculous. Any smaller turbo would feel sick at that level of boost, the EVO3 16G eats it up. You will be wanting a strong fuel pump at this point, since the boost pressure will physically slow down the pump.

What boost were you running on your 384 whp dyno run?

you can always get an hx35 and itll spool almost like a 16G but will make 400 with no problem.
