It's a long shot but I was wondering if anyone, who is planning on attending the shootout, has a remote control helicopter of sorts.

I would like to make another shootout video and would love to have some different camera angles. Some high-alt shots of the hotels and track would be awesome!

So if anyone has a remote controlled flying device that can accept a small payload, shoot me a pm.

Sir - I love your taste.

This seems like a cool idea. Flying over the staging lanes would make for a sweet shot. My rc helicopter could handle the camera but I am not experienced enough to trust myself with a camera strapped to it and defiantly wouldn't try to fly it around everyone's Dsm's.

Downloading as we speak!

What is the run time on your heli?

You have plenty of time to practice. We would also have a couple of "netters" to make sure everyone's car and heads are safe.

I only get around 10-12 minutes flight time with my heli. With a load strapped to it I'm sure it would be less. How much does your camera weight? I can strap some weight to it and do some practice flights. It's no joke to fly a heli and I still have alot to learn. I have lost control of it a few times in the past and crashed hard(mostly when I try to push myself) but I'm getting better. I can hover and fly around slowly pretty good.

Watching people puke in a helicopter is hilarity at it's finest.

Ummm... why don't you just buy one? Are they that expensive?

I would love to see this.

I just did a quick search on them and im finding these nitro heli's at and average price of about $680! Im not to sure how good these brands are, but i looked through the whole site and most of them are around that price, with more less than $600 than i saw over $1000!!

BUT that is still a hefty investment for something you just want to experiment with!

Runryder.com or helifreak. With all the knock off China stuff hitting the market electric helis are getting a big following. Flying these things involves a learning curve, might be able to get a local to do it for you with a proper rig.

I got to work with the best remote control aircraft ever :D

Screw nitro helis! Buy a nice electric heli with a brushless motor. They are way faster and more controlable(IMO) than the nitro helis, and have less maintainance. If you have a good battery you can fly for 15 minutes.

Check out the E-Flite Helicopters. I used to have a CX-2 and the CP models. You can get rotors and stuff from the majority of hobby shops, if they break.

Heres the E-Flite 400 3D. Much more affordable and practical than a huge ass nitro heli flying over cars :| . If a nitro heli hit a car, that would DEFINITELY leave a mark :aha:

Its definitely capable. And it wont break the bank.
