So my tranny is fairly new, I had Lucas English do a stage II rebuild about 8k miles ago. My car is a 90 so he did the 93 intermediate shaft swap.

Anyway, I was parked in first with my car facing up hill. After I went to the move the car I notice that when MOVING ONLY the car is VERY hard to shift and third gear will occasionally grind. I have not checked my car for clutch drag as it is kind of hard to find a total level surface around where I live with out going for a 5+ minute drive.

Anyway, my guess is it is either the clutch failing to disengage or possibly a linkage issue?

I have noticed though that the problem shifting seems to be coming and going right now.

Anyway, thanks for your help.:thumb:

I haven't noticed any leaks yet, but I'll go ahead and check anyway.

Okay, so I checked the fluid and checked for leaks. The fluid was a bit low so I filled it up and took it for a test drive. First and second and fifth gear work perfectly fine. Third gear grinds and wont go in at all unless you are going 25 or lower and fourth is just tough to get into gear but it will go in with out grinding.

Today on my way to work I noticed I can shift easily if I shift under 3k RPMs and it's wanting to be a douche when wanting to shift to any gear again.

I have a act 2100, anyone think I might have popped a spring instead of it being a adjustment issue?

*update* I noticed a slight grinding sound coming from the back of the car today on my way home from work. I don't know if it's related as my rear dif has always been noisy.

The rear diff could definitely effect how it drives but I believe it should still shift the same. I can't help but feel that if it were clutch related more gears would be effected, but I could be wrong. Have you mentioned it to the guys that built it?

All the gears seem a bit off so I'm not sure if it's a linkage or a clutch adjustment problem. All the gears seem a bit off but you can find them and third and fourth are usually a bi***.

You could try adjusting the clutch pedal since it is not too difficult. When does the pedal feel like the clutch is disengaging, up high or close to the floor?

The friction point isn't horribly far out but it Definatly isn't slammed against the firewall like most other cars ive been in. Honestly all three cars i have owned have been farther out than anyone elses I've driven. I'm not sure if that is normal or not.

However the friction point seems to last from about two inches from the firewall til about one inch from being totally off the clutch pedal, that does seem to be very off to me. Ive watched jacks clutch adjustment video for the 2g DSM and he says you want the clutch to hit the friction point roughly two inches out but does not go on to say how long it should be in the friction zone for.

I properly adjusted the clutch according to Jack's Youtube video and it's still grinding in third. The tranny is a bit notchy in every gear and third still isn't possible to get into unless going under 25mph.

I'm starting to think it's a linkage issue because I have no problem building the 15 PSI I had my MBC set to before and it does not feel as though anything is slipping.

Any ideas? I heard from some guy at work it could be a clutch fork (but that does not make sense because I always hear the tranny can't shift at all if that happens) or a stretched cable.

Any clues as to where I should start looking next since proper clutch adjustment has been ruled out?

*edit* I have read up more on 1g clutch adjustment and realize I might be wrong.

I adjusted this...

Apparently this is the adjustment rod

However I did have the same effect as described by adjusting it in Jack's video.

I'll try again tomorrow. Anyone have any more insight as to where the bolt I adjusted is supposed to be adjusted to?
