The launch itself isn't a problem, it's the 1-2 shift that is slowing down the run.

Watching the boost gauge at the center of the dash, he blows through 1st gear so fast that the turbo is just barely at full boost so it tries to drop out of the boost during the 1-2 shift. We're working on this a little, and once the bugs are out he'll have himself a 9's pass for sure.

Compare the launch of the car during the 10.12 run to the launch of the 10.39 @ 133 run from a year ago:

The previous best before the 10.39 of last year was a 10.8; the difference being the strength of the launch....the 10.39 @ 133 was 12mph slower than his best of this year of 145, yet the E.T. was nearly identical. If he could launch every time like he did on the 10.39 run from last year, this would be a 9.7 (or faster) car.

have you guys consider using smaller tires? like m/t's 24.5x8

Its not the size of the tires causing it, its the fact that i need to slip the clutch a little more, or up the rpms! I was running 1.54 60fts last year on the same tires!
Its also my 1-2 shift, still scared that it wont go in gear, my 2nd gear has been through hell last year and this year... Started last year at the shootout, from a improper clutch adjustment... just need a freshen up, and all will be good!

Congrats! I think NLTS will help you out a lot.
Yeah that definitely will, just something was going on on my first pass of the night when nlts was enabled, the car would only boost to 15psi, turned off nlts, and it was back to normal!!?? wierd!

NLTS is great, its really hard to get used to holding the pedal to the floor and not let up. I still find myself lifting from time to time. LOL.

Me too. Especially when you have to feather it in first!

I wish I could make it to the shoot out but I don't think it's gonna happen. Dave good luck getting into the 9's. I'll be coming for the hx40 MPH in a couple months.

I'm done wasting time, and done trying to save parts!!!
Next time I go to the track, I'm uping the launch rpm's and adding antilag!!! screw it, I have three spare rear diffs, three spare sets of rear axles, and 5 spare t-cases!!! I'm good to go.:thumb:

LET IT RIP!!!!! If all goes well Im guessing 9.6-9.8 and also the track telling you to get a chute. Just dont make the car unusable before the shootout. I want to see this thing in person and in action.

You'll se the car in action at the shootout, I'm wanting to get my first 9s pass at the shootout this year!! That being said, I wont be making anymore passes before the shootout, so you're good to go:thumb:

Wow congrats!! TRULY a sick setup car. I cant wait to have my HX40 setup done next season on my auto 2G!!

This has completely convinced me to go Holset

It took you this long to be convinced on Holsets? If god had to put a turbo on his dsm it would be a Holset... j/p

Congrats on the trap, now go get that 9....

BTW, the HX35 you used to run came off my sr20.

question?

Has a SMALLER turbo ever gone faster than 145mph on a DSM of the same or greater weight? Smaller meaning less than 60mm inducer?

Congratulations to Dave for bringing Bullseye Power on board just in time for the 2011 DSM Shootout!

Dave is now sponsored by Bullseye Power and will be testing their new Batmowheel HX40 compressor for the remainder of 2011 and all of the 2012 season as well, so look for amazing things to come from the Holset HX40 over the next year. We're looking for a 9.5 at 150+mph from this setup!

Special thanks to Bill Devine for recognizing Dave's hard work and giving this project a chance!

Bill Devine was definitely helpful for me in choosing my hybrid "S256ET," although not as much as you (Justin) helped me prior to my making a selection, but Bill didn't offer me to test it (as a sponsorship:p).

When you guys show some great numbers with this new Batmowheel HX40, you may start a whole new craze...which could surely benefit Bullseye Power.

Any chance they will be making alternative exhaust housings for the HX-52?

Got the new Batmowheel in today, man its a really nice piece, can't wait for Justin to install it!

Thats a turbine wheel? It looks all wavey like a soda can cut up to be one of those intake tube tornados. Id ask for 2 of those wheels so I could use one and hang the other from a shelf as a conversation piece. Good luck with it. Lets see those 9 second passes. I assume now you'll have to go to the track before the shootout now and try it out? I'm assuming this is billet and will further increase spool up?

Like what? If you're not at a T4 divided level, you shouldn't be considering a HX52. A T3 .70 single-scroll would choke that turbo horribly.

It will increase airflow a good bit and supposedly should help with spool a bit as well, it's a really interesting piece... BEP did a good job on that design, for sure.

I was just thinking a divided T4 but in a smaller A/R and lighter weight. That hunk of metal weighs a ton. I guess it's not necessarily.

This wheel is slated to be a drop-in replacement needing no machining to your cover. I also do not believe it's going to be priced out of the range of any other billet wheel on the market- I'd guess in the $350 region, but we won't know for sure until they actually become available to the public.
