Ok im going with dsm graveyard and there 2g pistons 1g 6bolt rod combo. What are the ups and downs of this, and how much is the power gain.

Might as well get evo 9 forged pistons and 1g rods. It's the "new" thing to do. Might be able to squeeze a little more horse out of them and higher compression.

The Evo 9 pistons won't give you more compression than 2G pistons; they may give you slightly less. Yes Evo's have 8.8:1 vs 8.5:1 of the 2G, but the Evo's head gives it the extra compression, not the pistons.

The 1g rod that you use may not be to your benefit. It's not about 1g rods but about whether it's 6bolt rods vs. 7bolt rods. the 2g rods are just like the 1g rods from 1993-1994. You need 1990 through most 1992 rods. Otherwise you're swapping from one rod to the exact same rods; while spending money to machine them to fit your crank and under your piston. Same small beams, same small rod bolts.

I was actually thinking about this the other day when I saw an ad on here. I'll bet many guys are running those and don't even realize it.

Well im sending in my 1g 6 bolt rods for core. So i expect to get back 6 bolt rods. I have seen the difference.

My mistake that should have said 2g pistons and 1g 6 bolt rods.

I am running the 6 bolt rods with the EVO 9 pistons. Only have 2000 miles on the block and then had to install a different setup. Great setup so far, was running 25 psi on a 50 trim. Now gonna try to push 32 on my BW. I will report my results in a month or so.

I feel like I'm the only person that likes 7 bolts LOL. I like the way they rev. To convert to 2g pistons is simple as throwing them on.

The 6 bolt I have, deff can tell a difference in rev. But thats about it, I know its strong.

One thing I hate about 7 bolts, is that you have to like buy NEW bolts for everything everythings like torque to yield.

As for DSM graveyard, there work is ok, don't expect to get the rods you sent in back. 1 Set was nicely marked on the big and small end. The next set, was hardly marked if at all. Service is alright, but sometimes can be very slow.

Just a little info. So you know what to expect. I'd say you will have a set back in 2-3 weeks.
