Ok so heres my problem. I was installing new cams and idk when but 2 cam cap bolts broke. I tried using an extractor and that didnt work and I heated it an use the extractor and that still didnt work. Is my only option to pull the head and take it to the machine shop. My intake manifold and turbo are off so it wouldnt be hard but I want to be sure. What do you guys think?

If theres no way to get that one out, have you considered drilling it out and putting in a heli-coil?

i personally would remove it for a few reasons. 1 being that the metal shavings you created by drilling get into the head then oil track, etc... 2 being when you heated the aluminum head who knows if anything is slightly warped when the cams go back in. i would have a machinist look at it. hey worst case if its going to cost to much to fix at least the heads are cheap enough.

Idk im kind of sketched out about doing that since like Its kind of a crucial part and I dont really trust myself to do that you know, ### if its cocked one way wrong then it wont torque right and i feel like it could mess up my cams.

Simple answer. Take it off and let a professional do it.

Ya I meant to say you should remove the head but do the heli-coil yourself to save you some money. I bought the heli-coil kit and it has come in handy more than once. And doing the heli-coil kit is very easy, just take your time and you won't have a problem.

But if you really don't trust yourself, just take it in and get it done.
