Just kinda think of it as attendance...LOL... if u have an auto awd just post here or something. Its just takeing way to long looking thru random ppls profiles trying to find you guys, so if you guys come to me that'll be awesome. Just looking to see what mods are most common within the awd auto community:thumb:

Nitrous on an auto with a large turbo, for the launch..

So what is the question..Folks here on tuners have ran 10's on a stock auto tranny..

My 92 is an auto. Its bone stock, trying to learn about autos so this is a great idea for a thread.

Keep is stock, or sell it to me..JK, I won't have any money..Like the rest of this country..LOL..My backup plan, needed backup plan. Cause I'm broke..

Subscribing, I am thinking about swapping from manual to auto!

:hellyeah:

Stock autos are very resilient. They can hold power better then the manuals stock v stock it seems.

IPT is a great place for valve bodies/shift kits and performance rebuilds.

As far as stall converters go, you want to match your converter to your cam and turbo selection.

These guys can also flash your tcu with a ton of different options.

I'm an old fart with fond memories of my V8 cars pulling under a fresh green light without waiting for the power to come on. My first AWD Talon in 1991 was a joy to drive hard, but doggy chugging around town.

With the mods to my 1998 Talon I have the best of both worlds:

Bigger exhaust for faster spool.
E3 16G turbo for faster spool.
Upgraded intercooler and piping.
Longer stroke for more displacement and torque.
Higher compression ratio for more off boost power.
Cams optimized for low/mid range for more off boost power. (264/264)
Higher stall (4300 RPM) torque converter for less time spent at low RPM.
Adjustable cams gears set to move the torque curve down.

My Talon has all of the above and drives like a Good Olde V8 chugging around town and still acts like a modified DSM with double the OE horsepower when driven hard.

Chipping the tcu just moves your shift points..If you have a 5speed ecu(1g) you can stall as long as you want..

I wonder if link can move the shift points? Anyone?

Just swapped to the auto but wont be ready until next season. :(

98 eclipse convertable AWD auto here. Im pretty modded and just a hop skip and a jump from you.

How do you like it??? I've been thinking about the awd + auto conversion for about a year now.

My daily driver Talon is an A/T.

One of my favorite mods is full line pressure shifts.

Yeah, thats what I love about having my eprom tcu on a switch. When I'm puttering around town, i use the stock tcu. When I feel like having fun, i use the eprom tcu with 100% line pressure.

Auto guy here. I've been rocking a '92 2wd auto Laser RS since '99. I just built a FWD trans for it using the Alto redline clutches and treated plates with the high energy band and a modified TransLabs shift kit. I also installed a Phantom Grip to lose the one-wheel-wonder aspect of the FWD. My '92 Talon (6/4 auto awd) is waiting in the wings for me to finish the reconstruction of my 90 GSX. Everything from the Laser will be transfered to the Talon. BTW, I've been a transmission tech for the last 17 yrs. I've been trained by Chrysler to know the ins and outs of these things. The funny thing is that nobody else at the dealership was even interested in getting the (not just free, but I was paid to go) training in these cars. I closed my transmission shop 3 yrs ago, and now I'm the shop foreman for another local high volume transmission shop.

I've been preaching about how cool the autos are for years. It's nice to see how the current bandwagon recognises how great the autos are with just a few mods to them. DSM-ECU yahoo group has a complete break down on the chip and there's even a Palm app for trans data. Check it out. It's completely cool.
