So i had a bunch of (i hope) phantom knock and decided to change the knock sensor. Hopefully this helps. I only seem to get knock report on my mmcd logger when I'm at low RPM, usually under 3k rpms and it won't shut up until I lift off the gas. Usually I can get right back on and it doesn't knock.

Also I would get it while cruising down the highway about 60-65mph and 27% on the TPS. What is so special about 27% that triggers knock while cruising down the road?

Your thread title made laugh! I would say that the reason you receive more knock while cruising at low throttle is because that is when your car runs the leanest. I don't know for sure I'm not a tuner that is just an idea.

I'm going to take a guess and say that this is after he replaced the knock sensor otherwise he wouldn't still have the issue or maybe hes trying to help people that are having the same problem narrow it down to the knock sensor....Idk?

I had the same issue on my 95. I got something like 45 counts of knock while cruising on the highway. Replaced the Knock sensor and didn't help anything. It turned out to be the lifters that were causing the knock. I replaced them with 3g lifters and its good now.

Hey everyone. This is a wait and see approach to see if it helped. I'm still seeing some low-rpm (heavy load?) knock but not as much. But my regular driving knock is a lot better. I still see a hit here and there.

I'm wondering if having the balance shaft deleted is having the low rpm knock. I wish I had dsmlink so I could set it not to activate under "x" rpm and "y" TPS%.

@Lavery: I also have lifter tick and that's one thing I want to do. How are those 3g lifters working out, completely eliminated?

Update: just went for another ride. Definately better overall. Seems like when I'm going up any kind of grade at low RPM it still sends knock count through the roof. No overt sounds that I can hear though the sensor is undoubtedly convinced.
