I have a 1997 Automatic transmission GSX with a gReddy FMIC 24v. I just bought a 3 row Mishimoto radiator and have slim line fans. Since this GSX is an automatic transmission, I require extra cooling of the oil since the Mishimoto doesnt have an oil cooler housing. So I have a 12 x 11 x 1(ish) oil cooler that I need to mount.

I want to mount it between the FMIC and the condenser unit but the Radiator Center Support bracket is in the way.

So my question is: How important is this bracket? If I remove very large portions of it will it be that big a deal?

Also the bracket has been putting some nasty dents in the FMIC so thats more incentive for me to want to remove large portions of it.

thanks for the help.

Yes it can be removed. How ever if you plan on running the stock hood latch you will need it. Or find a way to modify it. If you use hood pins you can remove the latch and bracket.

dont remove that, its helps support the hood latch when you close the hood. The previous owner of my car did that to put in a intercooler and i always had to lift up the front bumper and push on the hood for it to close until i welded a support beam for it.

If you remove the whole thing then yes you will have issues getting your hood to latch. However if you just remove the portion below where the latch bolts to it then you won't have any issues with your hood closing properly.
