Alright yall, im almost done collecting all the parts I need for my engine build. Machine block, surfaced head, new clutch kit..ect. All I need is Cometic Head
Gasket, Timing Belt, and Cams then I will be able to begin. This is my very first DSM engine build and I need as much help as I can get. If there is a certain way I need to do something or whatever may it be, tell me. I am not ashamed or have too much pride to ask for help, because I dont want to destroy anything! The engine im building is a 1g short block turbo engine. I wanted to reuse the oil pump, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, transmission and turbo. The engine that I have in the car now had a spun bearing and dealt with alot of overheating, so is it ok for me to reuse some parts? If there are some parts I can and can't use please give me a list. I want the build to go right and I want my baby up and running again. Thanks yall

Hello there well to start off good to hear that your comited to DSM alot by doing fresh build. Also im building a 6 bolt my self going in a 2g body i call it semi stock. Well to get to your point if i was you i would not use the same oil pump highly recomened by me to buy new one only about 80 dollars on ebay brand new. any other questions reply to this message thanks and good luck ;)

Ok well the ebay pump is worse then using the old one man.. I would NEVER use anything besides oem on something like that..

Anything that is internal motor should always be oem unless your going with forged internals.. So get a oem HG,oem timing belt, everything that is a timing component oem.

As for the pump rebuild it put new seals ect. in it.. Its not hard.. Also id recommend you do a balance shaft elimination on the car as its just one less thing to worry about going later on..

Yes you can reuse parts but it depends on what?? So what would you like to reuse i can tell you whether or not it is a good idea its a lot easier then renaming every part and saying yes or no on my part LOL..

Ok, so its better to use a OEM oil pump..alright ill need to buy a need one. How much do those run for?

The Balance Shaft Eliminator, is it a kit or a part? if a kit what all does it come with and how much is it?

The parts I want to reuse is: Intake manifold, Cam Gears, Exhaust Manifold, Turbo, and Transmission

Im not too big, on using ebay parts because I hear nothing but bad things about them, breaking, wearing down quickly..ect :/

Nice. almost everything im putting in is OEM. my pistons are .20 over but that's about it. I just want to rebuild and have it running, then ###### sell it and get a GSX. I haven't figured out yet, but for right now im focused on gathering all the parts I need and start building. Building engines dont really scary me, only thing I want is for everything to be in working condition and done right. But yeah, your and mine engine build should go smooth. Good luck!

TGST90 you can reuse all of that stuff.. And ya ebay parts MIGHT be ok but with an oil pump do you wanna run the might..

Assembling a motor isn't really that bad guys LOL. Just take your time and be careful. Make sure you right down everything and don't jump back and forth between stuff.

Right a ordered list of how your going to do it and follow that list. Don't move onto the next thing until the other one is done. Even if you get hung up then take a break from it until you can find whatever it is you need to complete the exact project your doing..AND STAY CALM IF YOU GET MAD YOUR GOING TO F-UP AND THEN YOUR DOING THE BUILD TWICE.:D

Yeah, im pretty sure its not horrible and that's something I do not want to do...a second rebuild right after my first one :/ but can someone explain about the balance shaft eliminator because I want to get it and need to know what all I need to buy for it to function right
