Inspired by those whippersnappers in the high school thread, who yells at kids to get off their lawn while outside detailing their dsm, and has to be mindful not to throw out your back getting in & out if these things? :D

First car was a 76 Skylark, favorite car was 80 Lemans bought senior year. Fat tires, air shocks & AC/DC blaring. :hellyeah:

I'm a little over 40. First car was a 52 Ford flat head with 3 webers. Sorry, only AM radio back then. AC/DC hadn't been born yet.

Not 40.. but I yell at kids cutting through our yard... does that count? And I also have to watch my back crawling in and out and getting the kiddo out of the back seat. Figured I'd post in here so y'all won't feel so lonely :p

I am over 40 and my first car was a1971 Plymouth GTX with a 440 6 pack. I think only the Hemi would out run that car. I have been thru Camaro's and Chevelle's and El Camino's but the GTX was my favorite until I bought my '97 GSX!

I'm also a bit over 40. First car I bought was a big green 67 Buick La Saber convertible with a 4 bbl 350, TH400 and busted motor mounts. IIRC, Gas could be had for ~$0.25/gallon so that fact that it got <10miles/gallon wasn't much of a hardship on a high school income.

I'm still a decade off at a young and spry 30. My other car is 40 though, it's a 1971 GMC Sprint (El Camino with GMC badges)

Big 42 gone April ;) dont feel it though.

Ha, gotcha all beat. 68 this November.

First car 1930 model A Ford with a 283 Chevy dropped in.
Favorite car, 1963 Fuel Injected Corvette daily driver and 13 second weekend warrior.

Latest project, looking at putting long rods, pistons, etc into my 420a. Just like to be first across the intersection and I miss that low end torque.

I'm 40, and my daughter is only 22 months.

My first car was a 76 Fury wagon with simulated woodgrain sides, and genuine wood 2x4s keeping the leaf springs out of the passenger compartment.

45 here...my first car was 1967 Cougar XR7 with a 390 and 4 speed...that car was fast for a 16 year old...

Is this the new DSMtuners geriatric ward? :tease:

Just kidding! Kind of tough to believe, but you cats were my age (25) when these cars were still in production... The beginning of an era.

I guess you guys needed something fast enough to get away from the dinosaurs that were chasing after you:p

Regarding "Who's over 40?," I've been there, done that. My first vehicle was a 1968 IHI Scout 4x4. Actually, it was slow, but I had a lot of fun times trying hard to get it stuck.

Im not 40 but i have a question for you guys that are, why did you get a dsm? I mean I dont see to many muscle car guy/gals switch to imports much less even have respect for them haha

I clicked on this thread and dust flew from my keyboard and the smell of adault diapers consumed my room..

Well, the reason I got a DSM is because I owned one brand new in 1994. As far as your other comment, I like anything that is fast, but I wanted something I could drive more than a 1/4 mile at a time, and had AWD. However, I will say this about old muscle, you don't see too many DSM's cracking the $100k mark at the Barrett-Jackson Auctions year after year...

well im not 40 but im half ways there. Yep kinda wierd seeing older people on the import scene

no you dont but maybe 1 day:sneaky: your era wants the cars/material things that makes them feel back in their days. One day it will be our turn in wanting that feeling and we will be paying top dollar for this cars/material things, just watch

AC/DC blaring...

...why did you get a dsm?

This is a good question. During my younger years, I had “Jeep-type” 4x4’s, before they termed them SUV’s, and I also had mini-pick up 4x4’s. My similar aged relatives had muscle cars that I enjoyed. I had preferred small 4x4’s. To me, the GST seemed to be a small “sports car,” and it still is sporty looking. I purchased it because it is a small enjoyable car to drive that also looks good. I prefer to spend less on my vehicles (Jeep; GST), and my residence, and have more to spend on my outdoor/recreational activities.
Coincidentally, even at my age, I still enjoy AC/DC, they (and Judas Priest) brought remarkable live concerts in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

You should try cleaning and getting up from your video games one and a while.

Simple economics. My family has 3 Eclipses for less than I paid for the Corvette in the 60's and the last time I saw it the price was $45,000.

This will let me use excess cash for more upgrades. I know one of our Eclipse's is going to get a stoker kit and maybe a turbo as well one day.

The body maybe old but the brain still loves great looking sports cars.
