My transfer case is leaking. It doesn't seem to be coming from the output shaft seal, but from the yoke on driveshaft or u-joint. I have already done the vfaq rtv fix for the yoke. Is this going to be a problem having the recall done for transfer case leaks? Also the seal for the output shaft has been replaced with a equivalent skf seal that I got from a bearing shop not from the auto parts store. Any words from people that have had this recall done already?

Getting the recall done is gonna be hell to get them to do it. It's a safety recall so its granted for life. If it's leaking there product is putting yours and others lives at risk if it locks up. I have been in a DSM when the t-case locks up. We were only doing 35 but slid into the ditch with no control as soon as all 4 tires locked up and didn't budge at all. It was drug onto a flat bed and had to be anchored to a parked truck to let the tow truck driver pull away to get it off the flat bed.

There is a link off of vfaq.com for 1000 answered DSM questions or something like that. Print out the safety recall page and google search on how they have to grant it and print that off as well. Take them into your local Mitsubishi dealership and don't let them turn you away. Know your rights, and keep your self safe while using Mitsubishi parts and products.

If they still try to deny or not grant the recall call and chew chryslers head office a new one LOL. If all else fails then keep trying, eventually they will get fed up with your harrassing them and they will throw the $30 in parts on the t-case just to get you out of there.

Yeah I have heard many stories of them locking up. Scary! I plan on talking with the dealer tomorrow, but was unsure if I should crawl under and start scraping rtv off. haha. It's not leaking anywhere near as bad as it was before the rtv but its still leaking. I want to get this car sold and would like to fix as much cheap and free stuff as possible!

Booo! I called Chrysler, and they say no recall on t-case. They said there is a recall for my lower ball joint but expired, and try to just take it in to dealership and see what they say. I don't know if its worth the $35 or whatever the part cost LOL

I would try to go through Mitsubishi honestly. On the 89 Chrysler Conquest 9 times out of 10 I have to go through Mitsu to get parts for the car. So even though it is badged a Chrysler I would still try Mitsu before giving up.

I'll explain this real quick. You only have ten yrs then your out of luck trust me. Yets say you have a 1996 mitsubishi eclipse and the transfer case is bad and it is mitsubishis fault well you only have untill 2006.

It's a safety recall thats granted for life as long as it has not had the recall done to that car. I called Mitsu, and personally walked into the dealer and talked to them. They gave me that 10 year limit crap as well. I slapped the paperwork on the desk from the Chrysler's website stating the recall was a lifetime safety recall. They ordered the parts and scheduled a date. Mine was taken care of about 1 week later.

I'm not the original owner of my 94 talon, it's been well over 10 years from the date of recall. I knew what I was doing and even thow they refused I still showed them the recall status stating OPEN and LIFETIME so they almost had no choice to fix it. If I were to of gotten in a bad accident because of it locking up. You best believe I would not sit quiet on that. I also let them know that after them trying to give me the run around on it.

Just stand your ground and bring the proper paperwork.

Best of luck!

Yeah I don't buy that 10 year crap. I just called a couple days ago and they said I need to bring mine in for the ball joint recall :thumb:

Nice! I am thinking about taking mine in for the balljoint recall as well. Now that I talked to the dealer and they had no part in fixing my yoke leak. I just j-b welded it and for now there is no more leak :thumb: resolved LOL
