I have a strange coolant leak from under my car. I have a picture showing where it is in relations to the oil filter and oil pan. I am not sure what this piece is or does.

I am wondering if I can possibly drain the coolant (which probably needs to be done anyways) and then put some thread sealer or something on it so it stops leaking. any ideas? thanks

The plug that you Circle. Is your Oil Filter Housing. (There is no WATER running inside the Oil Filter Housing.
There is water running only on the filter (where the filter is attached).
Have you check if you have water in the Oil? Or Oil in the Water?
If it is leaking water from that plug. Then I would say that your oil Cooler (where your filter is attached) is crack.

Check your water pipe and water pump. gasket might be pinched or bad in the water pipe or water pump might be going out.

I know it has to be coming from this little twisty screw because I cleaned around the edges of it to make sure it wasnt coming from anywhere around it. It is leaking Green fluid from the threads of that screw if that makes any sense.

There's an o-ring around the water pipe where it goes into the water pump. This pipe runs behind the turbo and turns into the lower radiator hose. I would look from the front of the engine above your alternator and below your ps pump while the car is idling at normal operating temperature to see if you see drips coming from where the tube attaches to your water pump. I have seen this o-ring fail a few times.

OK, I looked long and hard last night and it turns out you guys were right all along. It isnt coming from the screw but from somewhere directly above it and its trickling down the side of that and onto the screw giving the appearance of it leaking from the screw. The crappy part is there is that plastic wheel well piece and about a million belts in the way so Its hart to see exactly how far up the trickle goes. I will have to get it up in the air more to investigate further.
