I've had a terrible day and need to vent...

So as a few of you may know, my car caught on fire 2 weeks after I built it, that was 8 months ago. Now im STILL trying to get it running, I've sunk about $3000 into shop labor, 2 new harnesses, and a vendor fvcking me over (which still isn't resolved), and now its sitting at a shop and its running pig rich and they can't get it to lean out no matter what they do.
Its been one problem after another and its driving me nuts. First I needed a new ecu because my old one fried an injector pin, then I was having fuel pump issues, and then I needed ANOTHER new wiring harness, which ended up being the wrong harness again and I had to get it converted to a 99 harness, and now this, its nonstop. I feel like my cars never going to run again :( I really feel like I should just part it out or sell it. Like what's going to happen next? What would yall do? I mean im a broke ass college kid who works a part time job, I don't have the money for this, im seriously blowing paycheck after paycheck on a car I feel is never going to run.

End rant/

Stop Crying, my car is at $8000....then again, I'm shooting for 600 AWHP. Anywhere under above 500 would be enough to make me smile.

How did you car catch fire?

A fuel leak was formed and I was unaware, and see im just trying to get it running, not shooting for some crazy horsepower, and you have a good paying job, im only 18 working part time LOL

Yet another reason not to own a modified car unless you can afford to throw it in a dumpster tomorrow for no reason.

Modding it, I was fine, heavily modding it is when it started to kick my ass.

If you cant afford it now, get out while you can. Aint no point in sinking money into something that you can not enjoy. I would have started with a fresh shell unless you intended to rewire and re-plumb everything in the car.

A burnt shell is more of a safety factor than anything. You most likely have a clogged return line. Something melted and made its way into it. Another reason to replumb it and start over. How are the brake lines?

The turning point for you is to find another part time job and keep modding and building. Or just get a honda and have something to get you from point a-b with no fuss.

I remember working 2 jobs so I could afford my habits with my first dsm. Shit aint cheap, and nice parts arent either. It gets even more expensive if you dont do the work yourself.

Good luck.

I have a beater, I just hate it LOL
And the fire wasn't to bad, it was only on fire for a minute or two and not that much got burnt, just a few sensors and the radiator fan.

I'm going to be straight up honest with you. Pay the shop and bring it home, it sounds like they have no clue and just wanna throw parts at it. I don't mean to be blunt but, the best answer I can give you is suck it up! Learn to do the work yourself. Just because one shop can't figure it out doesn't mean it's time to give up hope. If it takes alittle more effort on your part to get it running than so be it. You will learn a valuable lesson, if you own a dsm work on it yourself. We are here for you bro every step of the way. All you have to do is ask and the answers will be there. That is why this community is such an awesome thing. To sign of from my encouragement! Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6 God bless bro

I'd do as above; Pay the shop, get it out. Post up tons of questions on here. I paid quite a bit on shop labor a year ago. I got rid of that car (part out) then bought my 1g. Done all the work myself and still doing so. It's a major PITA but so worth it. You're 100x more careful on messing anything up if you do it yourself. Just my 2% of a dollar.

if you would have just taken it to F.I.S.T. and let mike take care of it in the first place i bet you wouldnt be feeling like this. my advice, Take it to F.I.S.T. and have a nice long talk with mike. Goodluck :thumb:

To the OP. Man get your car out, the shop will KILL you. I had a DSM at a shop I put it in in February and didnt get it out till june. Thats how long the shop had it. I also paid about 11k that was plus mods. But during that time i stayed at the shop learning how to do some of the simple to more complex things. The dizzum i have now isnt runing. No compression 65, 50, 50, 50 is my numbers from 4 to 1. The rings need to be replaced. The top half of the motor, every sensor, every ecu cap, every wire, every fuse has been replaced/rebuilt by myself. And im still under 2k with doing it by myself. Now im going to redo the rod bearings, hone my cylinder walls, and replace my piston rings and this car will basically be brand new. And i built it. So if it messes up the problem lies somewhere where i messed it up at, and that money you gave the shop you can use to fix your mistake if you have one. This is the best site i have ever been on as far as information with any car, i have even asked a honda question on here because the honda forums usually arent this helpful. We WILL help you man. GET YOUR CAR OUT

I feel super bad for you. I was in a situation a little close as that. I had an electrical issue I sunk most of my money to labor and buy parts. I had no job also. I would put the car on hold if I could. Search around for a dsm shop. Best luck to you man.

Definitely get the car out of the shop. This forum WILL help get it back on the road. If your in a bind for cash, you could always sell a few performance parts and go back to stock just so you can enjoy it and mod again later.

That's a sad story OP, however you're only 18! It's good that you wrote it out though. That sometimes helps the human brain cope with problems and stress.
But you've got plenty of time. Be patient. In the time I've owned my DSMs, I've driven them maybe two hours combined.
New problems arise, weather gets in the way, money dries up, other aspects of my life take priority, etc. It's a waiting game, but the payout is great.

Patience is a virtue is a common expression for a reason. So just look at this as a lesson. At least you're not waiting for a kidney or something.

Damn, 3K into a job that still isnt finished..

That could ve been a good used engine and swapped into your car..

how are they screwing people over?

Pretty much told me they had a 99 harness in very good condition missing only one plug, Ended up getting a 96 harness missing 3 plugs and wrong injector clips.

And il definatley be doing what you all say and pull my car out soon, I need the money anyway.

I had a shop blow up my forged internals engine because they didn't put a plug in and I puked oil out of the block. Not counting the engine parts I paid them just over $1600 and they aren't taking responsibility for it. Now I'm stuck with dropping a stock engine in and running it that way. You aren't the only one thats gotten screwed by a shop and you wont be the last its life.. $hit happens
