I'm looking to put down somewhere around 400-450whp with the new HTA76 BB FP turbo using E85. I will be putting in 1350cc Bluemax injectors, an external Pro Series 044 pump (inside a surge tank to prevent fuel starvation in high speed corners), and I already have a Walbro 255 in tank pump and -6 feed line, with an AFPR.

I remember being told I can run a smaller in-tank pump and was going to replace the 255 with a Evo 9 pump, however, I was just talking about that idea with a local speed shop and was told that I would only get as much flow as the smallest pump in the system and suggested I go with a larger in-tank pump (an Aeromotive pump). Is this true? Obviously that would probably not work. And is the -6 line big enough? I just want to make sure I'm going to have enough fuel.

For some of the fluid dynamics guys out there, please let me know if my planned set up will be enough to support that I'm trying to do. Thanks in advance.

The pump will not be enough to max out the injectors (flow chart), but it will still be enough for 400-450 whp easily.

As far as getting as much flow as the smallest pump will do, that is the exact opposite of how a surge tank works. The 044 is essentially gravity fed from the surge tank, so it doesn't care what your in tank pump is doing. The in tank pump is only filling up the surge tank, as well as circulating fuel between the main tank and surge tank during low loads.

I would keep the in tank 255 in there. If you have a 4 port surge tank setup, the in tank pump is what will be cycling fuel from the surge tank back to the main tank, and thus help increase fuel turnover in the surge tank, which decreases the heat of the fuel to some degree.

Furthermore, it's less work you have to do :p

Sounds like a good plan Tom, and what I was leaning towards. Just needed some confirmation. Now will a -6 line be adequate you think?

For your HP goals it will. A 16G on 850s and stock fuel setup with e85 can make 400 to 450 hp.

I've been using an in-tank evoIX fuel pump on E85 for years.

When I had the 3065, the evo pump fed an external 044. No issues anywhere.

Maybe, but I'm looking at conservative numbers and will be doing this on a road course and don't want to have the turbo running on the high side of its efficiency range. The goal is to keep it on the low end of the efficiency range to keep temps down and keep things a little more reliable. Plus I'd like to be able to crank the boost up a little every now and then and get more power than the 16g would produce.
