I just want you to know that I appreciate everyone's work in this thread and I intend to leech like all hell from your fruitful labors.

^ Me too.
I'm actually going to put my MR2 pump up for sale once I get unlazy. It's from a 92 IIRC so it's not the one with the built in res. which is what I really want.

Is there any information I left out in this write-up? I felt I covered everything sufficiently with regards to the wiring and hydraulics hook-up. I mounted the electric motor in the fender well so that it could be cooled by the air coming through the fender opening. Also, the pump does not run full blast constantly. When I'm sitting at a red light or coasting down the interstate it decreases in operation, as soon as the wheel is turned the pump senses it and starts spinning faster to supply ample turning capability.

Maybe the fact that this is in a thread format makes it unclear that it's a "how-to", as you have to sift through the post and all the replies in between - the how-to portion looks a little buried in the thread. It's not totally clear that this thread contains a how-to - submit it as a Tech Article and everyone will be able to see that it's a finished project and can see how to do it. I always think of threads in the forums as "in development" discussions, not write-ups on how to do something. Eventually this thread will get buried, but in the Tech Articles section it will be organized and filed where everyone can find it easily.

That's why we always ask people not to use the forums for how-to articles and vehicle project journals - they get lost and are difficult to follow.

Oh I see, well then I shall submit it as a tech article along with the transmission swap.

I have everything minus the steering angle sensor (still hunting that down) and will be doing the install begining of next month. Motor died and its out so I thought this would be the best time to do it. I have alot of info on the MR2 setup so I'll enclude that too in my write up.

Can't wait to see the tech article.

Question, does anyone know if the speed input simply runs on a 0-5v signal? If so, couldn't it just be spliced into the speed sensor signal on the tranny???

Yes, I just spliced the VSS signal wire off the ECU. It was covered by the OP.

I thought the op said he left the speed signal input unplugged? So you're ps is speed sensitive, how its supposed to be?
