My dad and I were discussing this the other day...when my gsx gets off jack stands I'll have all stage 1 mods completed. And we were discussing which race scenarios his Acura NSX would beat me. He swears up and down he'd take me in the 1/8 1/4 and a road course...I'm pretty sure the only advantage he would have would be the road track.

But he lives in MI and I'm in TX so unless one of us takes a road trip it's all smack talk haha

Your pop sounds cooooool. ;)

Ive only seen one NSX in person, and this was at a car show. It didn't look like anything special? Reminded me of a MR2

Where at in MI? I'll race him. ;)

I had a great looking NSX come pulling up behind me on the interstate a couple years ago. Cars like that are VERY rare around here. I rode along side of him for a few miles, trying to get his attention to give him a thumbs up. I just wanted to let him know that I thought his car was absolutely gorgeous. But the assh0le refused to even look over and acknowledge me. I'm driving a car that could walk all over his, and he won't even take a thumbs up from me...

In many cases these drivers are just rich pricks that aren't car enthusiasts. While those that are will acknowledge you and give a thumbs up. A local where I grew up had a Lambo Miura and a Countach and would regularly take them to Virginia Tech car shows surround by tuners but he talked with everyone and was a nice guy. He would give it some stick if you saw him at a stop light. A Delorean is in no way a supercar but I loved the attention it got, and I would acknowledge anyone on the road, but I did hate the dumb street racers trying to show off. But I would always stop and talk about it at any time, and true car people would also.

I hate people like that, I tried to give a guy in a Porsche a thumbs up he looked over with a snooty look and then tried to take off on me, I think it was like a 911 turbo or GT2. Well he had some trouble trying to shake me, since we stayed on the fwy and did the speed limit :D

hahaha kinda like the time, a civic tried to do a noob pass on me on the freeway and the minute i saw him creeping up fast in my side view i accelerated (to the speed limit of course ;) ) and he couldnt pass me.. left him in clouds of rich, popping aftermath .. this was in my GS-T (RIP) of course..

We call those "Ricer fly-bys" out here

I passed an orange Lambo before, granted he was pulled over on the side of the road because the rain was coming down so damn hard... regardless, I count it as a win :p

wierd thing here in el paso i've seen 11 NSX usually old people driving them but nice people. People that dont live in this area say that theirs not much money around here but you'll be surprised how many exotic cars are here

i constantly have people turning heads to look at my car. I'm surprised its such a head turner. I dont have anything special appearance wise...maybe just my fmic. But i found this picture of my car next to an Audi R8.(My Avatar Pic) I guess the owner of the R8 thought my car was so sick he wanted to take a pic of mine and his car together....jk i took that pic:p

I am one of those snobs.....

Look at that MUSTANG behind me, what a joke!

But no seriously. My daily driver pisses off everyone else with my platform...

Wanna see why?

I took it to a VW and BMW meet, all of the VW's shook their head in disgust, and so did the Audis... Hahaha. I get the strangest look on the freeway as soon people see the purple.
All in due time I'm getting a white vinyl sticker that says UMADBRO?!? on my back bumper.

;)

The car gets ridiculous attention.

If they own a shitbox it's 50/50.
If they own a honda, it's 95% negative.
If they own a VW it's 110% negative.
If they own "American muscle" it's 110% negative.
If it's exotic there is no attention.

After all, I just drive a Japanese POS that barely makes 100hp and I need to go buy a "real" car. "Real" was defined to me as "a mustang or something".

I'd be lying though if I didn't admit to straight up rejecting a few beater civics and pretty much all VW's.:idontknow:

Nothing special, one friend had two in his garage and two other friends daily drive theirs.

I had read this a couple of years ago. Its pretty cool the ideas they had while designing the nsx, so yes its a pretty amazing car.

OFF WIKIPEDIA
DevelopmentIn 1984 Honda commissioned the Italian car designer Pininfarina to design the HP-X (Honda Pininfarina Xperimental),[1] which had a mid-mounted C20A 2.0 L V6 configuration.

After Honda decided to pursue the project its management informed its engineers that the new car would have to be as good as anything coming from Italy and Germany.[2] The HP-X concept car evolved into the NS-X (New Sportscar eXperimental) prototype. The NS-X prototype and eventual production car were designed by a team led by Chief Designer Nicholas Zander and Executive Chief Engineer Shigeru Uehara, who subsequently would be placed in charge of the S2000 project. The original performance target for the NS-X was the Ferrari 328, which was revised to the 348 as the design neared completion. Honda intended the NS-X to meet or exceed the performance of the Ferrari, while offering targeted reliability and a lower price point. For this reason, the 2.0L V6 of the HP-X was abandoned and replaced with a more powerful 3.0L VTEC V6 engine. The bodywork design had been specifically researched by Okuyuma and Uehara after studying the 360 degree visibility inside an F-16 fighter jet cockpit.[3] The NS-X was designed to showcase several Honda automotive technologies, many derived from its F1 motor-sports program.

The NS-X was the first production car to feature an all-aluminium monocoque body,[4] incorporating a revolutionary extruded aluminium alloy frame, and suspension. The use of aluminium in the body alone saved nearly 200 kg in weight over the steel equivalent while the aluminium suspension saved an additional 20 kg; a suspension compliance pivot helped maintain wheel alignment changes at a near zero value.[5] Other notable features included an independent, 4-channel anti-lock brake system; titanium connecting rods in the engine to permit reliable high-rpm operation; an electric power steering system;[6] Honda's proprietary VTEC variable valve timing system (a first in the US) and, in 1995, the first electronic throttle control fitted to a Honda.

No one care about these cars. The only good experience was when the new zr1 came out. My brother in law we were looking at it. It was an typical old white guy. He was cool enough to realize we like cars, waved hi with a smile and slowly took off. I almost cried LOL

This about sums it up perfectly, especially the VW statement. Everyone I know of with a VW around here is either a total d-bag and/or just plain strange. They just seem to be a different breed. The "American muscle" people are just that, you talk to them about their car and they are the most enthusiastic car people on the planet, mention what you drive and they immediately turn into a close-minded, hate spewing loser who bashes you for driving an import (even though, technically DSM's aren't imports).

Ha, you're a living example. j/k
What do you think it means, have you never spoken to a VW enthusiast?

TDI LOL I get 35 city and around 45 hwy. im not a tree hugger. during school I drive 70-100+ miles per day and filling up hurts the wallet. All the vw people i've met have been normal. I'm sure there are VW dbags, ricers, weirdo's, but so does every type of car.
