Did anybody actually buy their DSM brand new? Do you still have it? What year and model? How much did you pay? This interests me, I bought my first DSM in 1996, I was 16 years old and bought a Laser RS with 70,000 miles on it for right at $5000. Who else is a DSM OG???? I'd especially love to hear from people who bought new, but all OG's are welcome! Haha!

My brother bought an awd laser about id say 4 or 5 years ago. It was completely mint. Garage kept, summer and spring driven only.

29,999 miles were on it.
$5500

Awesome! My Laser was a 1990, the 2G's had just come out and I wanted one bad but couldn't afford one. I wrecked it and completely destroyed it in 1998, and 1 month later I bought a 1991 Laser RS.

Bought a brand spankin' new 1993 1.8l Eclipse and drove it off the lot. Was somewhere around $14k I believe when it was all said and done. Drove the crap out of it for 14 years, and it never once let me down. :thumb:

Hahaaa!! $14k!!! That's insane to think about now! That's great that you had it for so long!

It wasn't during the production run, but close. I bought my '99 when it was only 3 years old. I gave $13,300 for it. Still had the original window sticker (I'm pretty sure it was $24,500 new). Still got the car too. :)

If I was born 10 years sooner, I could definitely see myself buying a 1G or 2G during the 90's. :thumb:

My aunt purchased 2g Gs-t 1998 (new) i was around 9 yrs old at the time... turned 17 and bought a 2g Gs-t 1998 :) not original production year but i carried the memories with me for 8 years LOL My first 2g is long gone but the passion for the 4g63 is pounding strong

bought a 91 Talon AWD new after the 92's were on the lot. It was at dealer invoice which was below $20K. The 91 was daily driven as a commuter car about 20,000 miles per year with only tire, wheel and suspension mods until I heard that 1998 would be the last production year for the Talon line.

I ordered the 1998 in 1997 on the first day orders were accepted for about $300 over invoice which was just on the high side of $20K again. The 98 has been pretty heavily modified now but served as my commuter car until 2006.

Now it looks like I will have to make the Talon last forever. Two days ago we made a picnic run down MO 21 to the Johnson's shut-ins park and the crooked mountain road to the park reminded me again why I bought the Talon.

I bought my current 91 Talon in 1993, it was a one owner car with 29k miles on it. I paid $11,995 for it at the time. Still have it today. :)

Got mine in 92, but 2d owner. $14k. 6200 miles. Previous owner lost his license from speeding tickets. Think he had it for about 6 months.

Bought my '95, February 28th 1996.
Paid 21K for it since it was a year old new car it listed for $24,158

It now has 22K on the clock and 604 to all four.

These to me are all crazy story's. I couldn't see spending that much on a stock eclipse. Furthermore I think its crazy how expensive they were back then. I'm in pure awe. But its awesome how many of you og's still have them.

Mike, when you bought it did you ever imagine that 18 years later you would be going 9's on the original longblock? :D

Not a chance!! Back then 20 psi on stock internals were considered " pushing it ". :D My first ever trip to the drag strip resulted in a best of 13.9 and I was thrilled!

Bought mine in Aug of 96, 1st GST on the lot in Sarasota. Still have the sticker

Still have it. It's been thru a ton! I'm the 2nd owner. It was bone stock. 32k on it for $10,999. It was actually part of a sale that was going on. It was accidentally twice price reduced. I think it was supposed to be $13,999. But I stuck on them and got it for the price they accidentally put on it.

I'm sure you would have! The 90's was an epic decade for the advancement of 4 cylinder racing! It was awesome! I remember being pissed though because performance parts for DSM's in the mid 90's were scarce, Honda's had everything available! The internet was shitty and still dial-up, most parts had to be ordered through catalogs, your local shop, or fabricated by yourself. Somehow or another I came across David Buschur's name and ordered one of his catalogs in 1997 and FINALLY I was heaven! Haha! It was limited in quantiy then but as far as I can remeber he was the only one really producing any real performance shit for DSM's at the time. It was great! I ordered his full 3" catback fwd exhaust and was extatic! I'm pretty sure at the time he was still running Buschur Racing from his home! Haha! Not long after he had the 1st DSM in the 10's and then the 9's and it was huge deal! He was definately the TRUE OG!!! Ahhhhh the good ole days!

I didn't get my driver's liscense until '99, so I kinda missed out on all of the DSM fun in the '90's. Sounds like it was right up my alley though. :thumb:

I remember my first ride in a DSM. My buddy's mom had an AWD Laser and would drive us to school on occasion. That was around 1995/96, long before I even knew what a DSM was, but I loved that car at first sight. :)
