Anyone running FP2 cams with a stk head? Are they good for just drop-in's or do most require deg? Anyone running them with stk valve springs or do they require HD springs/retainers? Did you loose much TQ down low compared to the stk cams?

At what point will aftermarket cams benifit? I guess i'm trying to ask at what point, hp wise will aftermarket cams start to benifit more, or at what point do the stk cams start to hinder power production?

The stock turbo cams peter out around 6K RPMs (at least that's how they were in my setup).
With the FP2s, you really have to be aware of when you want to shift as when they hit their power band, Rev Limit comes up REAL QUICK :rocks:

You will loose a little bit of bottom end, but as with a big turbo, you're looking for more Power/Tq over a wider RPM range. Besides, in a race you won't be below 5K anyway.

Like the HKS 272 grinds they are patterned after, they ar "drop in" and do not require degreeing. Mine idled perfectly with a slight adjustment to the BISS. You wouldn't know they were aftermarket except for the deeper exhaust tone :dsm:

Just to update. I went to the track last night and with NO other modifications and the same level of tune (i.e. Temp, Boost, AFC, Timing, WAWA 93octane) I was .5 secs quicker in the 1/4 (12.3 vs 12.8) and 5 MPH faster (111 vs 106) :rocks:

By far the mod that gave the single biggest improvement :dsm:

After installing the cams did you have to adjust the boost controller at all?

I really can't say as I turned boost down at first to be safe and then turned back up to 23psi. My 12yo Hallman MBC (if you've seen these) is not very easy to dial precisely :dsm:

I put these in my car a little while ago, just dropped 'em in and drove it around right after that, no degreeing done. You probably *should* have better springs to handle these cams at high revs, but then again, if you have a more or less stock head, you probably have a similarly stock bottom end and don't want to wrap it out past 7500 much. I lost about 300 rpm of spool on my gt30r, but good god the top end is WAY better now. I didn't really feel all that much low-end loss, if anything the whole car just feels a lot more smooth now as compared to stock cams. I lost about 3 inHg in vac (putting me in the 15" range at a 850-900 rpm idle) and there is VERY little lumpiness in the idle unless you set the idle to about 750, then it will blurb every now and then. In terms of airflow, I am seeing about 3-4 lb/min more of airflow at 1-2 psi LOWER boost than I was with stock cams (aka i was at about 37.5 lb/min at 23 psi on stock cams, now I'm at about 41.5 lb/min at 22 psi with the FP2's). The install was a moderate PITA with the t-belt still on, but I would do it over and over again if i could keep adding these kind of gains. Bang for the buck, cams are probably in the top 5 if not top 3 mods to do to your car.

Bring this one back from the dead to see who else is running the FP2 cams, as I am in the market for camshafts. I really want the kelford 280 but I have found a good deal on some FP2 cams.

I have comp 100200s same as FP2's. Great cams, idle well and have great top end performance.

I have Fp2s with an evo 3 intake manifold and its the best setup I could of asked for. Very good low end response, they wont make your car buck at low rpm's and they have amazing top end power

HI, I know it might be too late of a response to the OP, but I figure this info might help to others in the future.
Some years back I bought a 1G with FP2 on intake side and FP2X on exhaust side. I only got to use it last year since I just pile up a lot of DSM parts and rarely actually use them.
I lost around 3-5 inGh of vacum, and I definitely lost some spool, which was rewarded with noticable amount of top end. Idle was as stock-ish as it could be, the sound was almost identical to stock cams (kind of a bummer since I really hoped for that loopey sound). I didn't rew past 7k on stock springs, but once I installed Beehives I went all the way up to 9000rpm and the pick up was staggering. This was all on stock cam gears and using GT3076R with .82 T3 hotside. 2.0 block.

I run them in my car. Might be too mild of a cam for my setup now. I ran them with a FP 3052 awesome cam. at 6700 it took a whole different tone. Never dialed them in. Ugraded my springs and retainers when I did this just to be safe. I give these Cams two thumbs up for anything under a 52 lb per min turbo.
Will be selling mine, Looking for fp4 cams if anyone knows anyone selling some point them my way please.

I am running fp2's right now on a 20g And I can say from the stock cams to these the fp2's are great. I have been running them on stock head with 145,000 miles on it with a 8,000 rpm red line now for about 6 months now with no adverse affects at all. Al tho I would recommend 3g revised lifters with these bad boys other than that great came ho and there was no adverse affects on low end torque or drive ability at all.

so if i'm running an EVO III 16G on 20lbs would a cam even be worth it? i shift at factory redline?
