Well both my door handles broke off, so i was climbing in through my hatch....
Then my bestfriend decides to have one too many, and throws up all over the passenger side, but it was freezing so i
just decided to crack the windows and leave it for two days.
Well nothing like cleaning frozen throw up out for a couple hours in the cold.:ohdamn:

Drove from Des Moines to St. Louis, paid $1200 for my '95 TSi AWD 5spd, and on the way home the turbo craps out 5 miles from home! Spun a rod bearing. That was like 4 months ago.

Now it's getting a fully forged rotating assembly (Eagle crank, Eagle rods, Arias pistons) and all brand new head parts (valves, guides, Brian Crower springs, retainers, lifters, seals). Hopefully will be done in the next month or so!

Bought a 1990 Talon TSI for $1500. When i arrived to pick it up the owner was finishing up a timing belt change. Paid the rest of the money owed and began to drive home. 1/4mile from my house the car jumped timing. I only lived 5 mins from the guy.

2 weeks ago i bought myself a stock 1995 talon tsi fwd. The car ran great, it just needed new rotors and brake pads which i purchased last thursday. Saturday comes around and i with the help of y friends try to change the rotors and pads when we run into a bolt that doesnt wanna come off. Long story short we stripped it completely so we left everything on till i could buy a replacement bolt. I put the wheels back on and go down the street for some carls jr. I get the food and make it about 200 feet down the street when the timing belt snaps. The mechanic took the head off and surprise surprise all the valves are bent. The mechanic said that everything looked new and doesnt know why the belt snapped but it did and now im in the hole for about a grand.

Kaboom, twice within week. One kaboom was my transmission blowing into 6 peices, the other kaboom was my motor throwing up its guts. woohooo :)

Good=sweet handling and quick:hellyeah:, Bad=driver's side door handle snaps off in my hand still doesn't look right ($160):ohdamn:, Ugly=rusted out underneath the passenger door sillWTF. How does someone let that happen?

Ah man, if I were you I'd just get a new engine. I was thinking about getting a MIVEC engine one day.

So i buy my 95 Eclipse GST w/168900 miles on it from my brother who had the motor pulled out 7 years earlyer. Car ran good for him, just wanted it rebuilt. The car, motor and tranny all had been sittin in a barn for this whole time untuched. he had plans but never got to it. Now its in my hands, so I drop the engine of at a shop to get rebuilt with a little extra done to it. $3gs and two weeks later I have my engine back. Same time that was being done I had my
5 speed tranny looked at by a good friend and he cleaned it up and all was good. Put the car together and started it up. A few tweeks later she was runnin pretty good. Ran her for about two weeks and it been one thing after anothe now! I have cleaned the fuel rail 3 times now along wit changing the fuel filter all three times as well. Little rust particals some how make it all the way up to the injectors and colg them all up. It started running like shit again a few days ago and I cleaned the fuel system again but im still only runnun in three. Cylinder 1 is dead. I just cant win for losing! :toobad:

got mine for 3gs dropped a grand in it for oil pump front seal and balance shaft eliminator. Still cuts off while driving. Has a water leak by the hatch one of the calipers are mest up. severe need of a tune. O the radio also cuts off hmm the oil pressure gauge dont work.

Havent drove it since november and we are in ending of may. Transmissionblew up from the inside. Rebuild tranny already and now waiting to put my license plate and insurance back on. I feel such a virgin again. Cant wait to hear that turbo screaming this weekend.

driving down the street from my house to an empty parking lot to show my 16y/o kid brother how to drive stick shift in what was his birthday present (family 2nd DSM) doing about 30mph passing through a green light ..some guy in a bmw completely blows the red and hits us probably doing about 50-60. Airbags burn the crap out of my face and the car is ruined. Thank god we were ok. pretty sore the next day heres the after math

Drove home from Chicago, about an hour drive, with NO coolant. It was bone dry and the temp gauge would start climbing any time we were in traffic and not getting enough air flow, which is pretty easy to do in chicago.. and then 2 weeks after I got it, the passenger side lower ball joint blew out on me :/ but its all fixed and runs great now :)

ok i was reading on page one that someone changed there plates.. ### they had 666 in it... im just curious ### i got my plates just recently and the lady said do u have a prob with these #s and pointed at the plates nd it was 666 so i said no... so now my plates are "L94 6668" she said that there not even suppossed to make them with that #... so my question is how many other dsms have that # in there plates??? or is it very common? as these are my first plates i dont know how the #s and letters and all that stuff work...

i have no idea where to start. i guess i would say when i was 5 or 6 years old seeing my first eclipse and going " mommy i will have one of those some day" well about 18 years later. i have a 97 gs and a 95 gsx sitting in my driveway. the gs i have no idea where to start. every possible thing that could happen to a car happened to that. But no rust or dents. As for the gsx. worst thing i have found so far, i would have to say would be the engine harness. all the hack job wires and wires that have no homes. Oh and this annoying rattle i cant seem to figure out. The first day i had the gsx out. Went to the gas station to buy smokes and a drink. Came back out to my car to find a decent sized dent in the driver quarter. and of course no one saw anything. But curse that day my mom brought me to walmart. Owning a dsm is a love hate relationship

So far, I'm having electrical problems, and i busted a piston as well as blowing my motor all today just cruising on the freeway not even hitting turbo. to sum everything up i payed more for repairs than the actual car itself.

On my way home from buying my 99 gsx the clutch disc seized... fail.

I bought my first dsm with my high school grad money...I don't know how I didn't see spending $2k on a busted up 1g wasn't a bad idea. I drove it for approximately two days before the manual trans got so bad it was literally undriveable. I couldn't get 1st 2nd and maybe reverse I don't remember. So now the car has been sitting for about five or six years since I wanted to put shep trans in it but could never afford it or find someone willing to help me drop the trans to ship it out.

Now several years later I'm out of the military and home. I got quotes to get the body and paint fixed up and I'm looking at $4,500 since the front right needs to be pulled and adjusted. The engine is now the only good thing in the car so I'll eventually pull it out and rebuild it. I'm looking for another dsm one with a good body this time 0.-

I think I'll have better luck next time then I did with that first 1g.

This is the worst thing that has happened to you relating to your DSM?

YOU ARE ONE LUCKY GUY LOL

After i buy my 98 talon esi I find out it has an oil leak. Fix that. Then the owner who is a so called buddy says oh yeah it burns coolent, well now im thinking it might need a new head gasket. Got it checked out and got a couple new hoses and it still burns. Then i see more spots where i park and its power steering fluid so not I gotta get that fixed. And on top of that my cv boot is torn and sweaks like crazy. god i love dsm. but all in all my car is great:coy:

When I bought my DSM I had the tranny go out within a month from the previous owner beating on it so hard. Then I fixed it and turned around and hit a deer one night... Then the mechanic that put the new tranny in used the wrong fluid so the tranny locked up going down the road one day and threw the intermediate shaft thru the tranny and destroyed everything... After that I decided to never trust another mechanic and to learn everything I could about cars and do the work myself. Had Shep rebuild my tranny and got it all back together and drove it for 15 miles and then... Crankwalk happened... Thus began the total tear down and rebuild of the entire car... Driving a fully built car today though, I can say it was alllll worth it. :)

Blew my turbo and lifted my head all in the same day, and found out that I have very fine metal shavings in my motor. Which caused the turbo to fail. I cleaned everything I could out of the head, and bought a pre turbo filter that I will clean out religiously.

All in all, it wasnt that bad compared to some of the other stories.
