ok guys. here are the details on the vehicle

98 GST
DSMlink w 95 ecu

Current Mod list is on my profile.

this vehicle has been sitting for the past three years due to upgrading to a evo 9. i let it sit at my mothers house and i would usually go over every couple months and drive it around the block. but last time it ran was about a year ago. it was sitting due to a bad transmission. a few months ago i told myself enough was enough and that my baby was gonna live again. i wanted to start it before i tore it down and upgraded a few parts. turned out the starter wouldnt want to crank. so i said #### it, ill rebuild it while i rebuild my transmission.

i rebuilt my trans at work on slow days and finally got it all back together along with new starter brushes. i went ahead and installed a new fidanza flywheel and reused my act clutch kit with a new oem tob. installed the trans. and a few other performance parts like wideband gauge, o2 housing, suspension, tires etc. i got the whole vehicle back together and now its time to start the sucker.

the starter engages. the vehicle cranks and cranks but does not start. i made sure the coil pack and and crank sensor connectors are going to correct spots. i checked all the plugs for spark and passed inspection. i know im getting fuel because there is fuel pressure and there is fuel in the cylinders. i currently have my wires hooked up for a 95 ecu and non 95/95 cam sensor.

i checked ecu for codes. none stored. opened ecu and no damage signs. stock boost gauge goes up half way and cel goes away after a few seconds.

i checked the cam sensor and crank sensor off a post i read on this forum but i am having trouble finding again. i want to verify i tested these sensors correctly and i also wanted to just drain the old gas in the tank and also change out the battery due to it losing its cranking amps even after a recharge.

can someone please provide good instructions as to how and check the cam and crank sensors?

can someone also give advice or opinions as to what to check?

i also want to check my timing next time i go around but i would like to have more inspections before i go and tear into the timing cover.

the maf is clean. i took my intake apart and cleaned pipe, couplers, maf and also installed new filter. was part of my maintenance for getting it back up and running.

yes that is the post. thanks saechao04. i wast getting voltage at pin 2 of cam and crank sensors. i was testing it a few nights ago. it was late and said next time i come around i would swap out battery and gas. im gonna be heading that way in an hour or two with those items. i just wanted to have a few more checks just in case it still didnt start. damn i miss my eclipse. only driving i have done in that car lately is in my dreams with perfect gear shifts. hah.

ok so any more suggestions? sure would be nice to get this sucker running again.

well i drained the old gas and installed a new battery. still not starting. just cranks. doesnt sputter trying to get going or anything. just constant crank. the way i checked the cam and crank sensor would be by first checking connector. i was getting battery voltage to both sensor connectors pin 3. i was getting about 3 ohms of resistance on pin 1. and 5 volts to pin 2 with sensors disconnected. i reinstalled both connectors and read between 2-5 volts when cranking on both sensors pin 2.

checking the timing is still on my to do list but im skeptical its that since i havent touched it. im just out of ideas after that.

Do you have a 1g cam angle sensor? When you installed were you at TDC? I had a no start issue that turned out to be my cam angle sensor...because I didn't set my motor to TDC before I installed it.

I have a 2g cas (located on passenger side of head). I haven't touched the cas for years so I'm sure its setup correctly. Happen to know symptoms of a bad cas? I tested it and it checked out but if I don't see any progress I might just start with the crank sensor and go from there.

I hate throwing parts at a car but I'm gonna be removing the timing cover and I don't want to do it twice.

Do a compression test. That will tell you right away if your wasting your time or not. I just went threw the same stuff and i changed gas, plugs, wires filters, all just to find out my car had a whopping zero compression on all fours.

If the battery is good, check your fuses.
The vehicle cranks, there is fuel pressure, injectors are firing and there is spark. Is there a fuse that would cause a no start I should be checking?

90% sure its your crank angle sensor
Can you please be more specific? How did you determine your crank sensor was bad when you experienced this situation?

I will take a compression tester along with me tomorrow. Its been a few years so some compression numbers is overdue.

I will be heading that way tomorrow and be inspecting timing components and do maintenance if needed. Please share any information you guys may have as to what else I should be checking for this no start issue. I will update as soon as I have more information to supply you guys.

The Motor fuse, its a 20A fuse. If you're getting fuel and spark it might not be it, but better to spend the $4 to make sure than just over look it. I would also check the transistor if you haven't yet.
