No, they're going in my car.

Those look amazing, I definitely want to see how to set it up if you can post pics of the process. My friend has an SRT4 and I absolutely adore the way those seats hug you in a corner. Tons of support!

People say the cheap aftermarket seats are unsafe, I don't know the details. When I get them in I'll post a thread for it. I got a good deal, cheaper than one Sparco reclining seat. I went for SRT4 seats in particular because I love how they fit me. They're not much lighter than a stock manual seat (if at all) but they're far more supportive and comfortable (to me). Every body is different.

wanna see some pics of the srt 4 seats installed, theres a couple srt 4's here locally being parted out...like that i can get a move on for those seats!!

So, if I got myself some 1G aftermarket seat brackets, could I also take advantage of some SRT-4 seats for my 1G? I really have not found anything here locally nor have I seen any other threads of guys putting aftermarket seats in their 1G that daily driver their 1G.

s2k seats, for sure

OK. So am I limited to either the S2K seats and the SRT-4 seats for my 1G, right?

No. You can put whatever seats you want....anything will require some fabrication or brackets

Yes. I am tracking on the brackets. But I am concerned about the width factor of the seats. For example, I would love to put the EVO 8/9 leather seats in my 1G but they are a bit too wide. I wish some 1G guys would chime in.

Ack, you're right. I was looking around for a set a month or so ago and found them for about $1500 a piece so I'm not sure what that site is smoking.

---> Porsche GT3 Seats

:dsm:

Looks like their not all that far off. Looks like their price is for a pair, in leather. If you look at the link you posted for $1500ea, that doesn't appear to be leather. Leather is further down at $2500ea, Limited time deal, on sale, $2783ea reg price ;)

Would those seats even fit in our cars? I think those shoulder bolsters might be too wide to close our doors?

I don't know how you'd do it in a 1g, but I've run in to many problems with my 2g.

First, the OEM seat brackets sit at different heights on at least 3 of 4 corners.
Second, the OEM seat bracket braces sit too high for the SRT4 seats to fit in the car at a reasonable seat back adjustment.
Third, my driver's seat will have to be cut out because the rail is frozen.

What I'm going to do then is remove the seat bracket braces, which will actually free up maybe 3-4 inches of headroom and is discussed in another thread here. I'll then drill straight through the floor pan and use 2"x2" steel plates as washers to bolt the seat down. Once that's in, if there's a relatively simple route I can take to weld braces across the "washers" I'll do that. I know it sounds silly, but I did a lot of searching on various forums, the 2"x2" steel plate "washer" is a fairly common and sturdy idea, and actually should make the contact area larger than it was from the factory, just in a different location.

You sure have done your research and it seems pretty straightforward.

The floor is WAY too thin and will not support a kitten, those cross brackets are what holds the seat weight. If you cut them then you will need to replace them, which will give you an extra 2" depending on how you add support.

+1 on the dumb sh!t 2g seat design though

You're suggesting I install new braces and attach them at the original braces' attachment points? The problem with this is after talking to some welders, the metal's too thin to stress that much.

Before I drill and install I'll do some test bouncing, if I fall through the floor I'll have to figure something else out. Thing is, those OEM braces actually have a very small contact patch with the floor. Running straight rails on the floor versus having the weight on the braces actually spreads the load over more area. The only thing you lose is the support from where the braces are connected to the raised areas of the floor pan.

Well you can put the different mounting braces wherever you like, just do not attach it directly to the floor only because as you also mentioned the 'metal's too thin' and wold hold the weight.

The metal's too thin to take the stress of cutting and then re-welding, we'll have to see about the holding the seat bit.

I think if you look at the OEM cross braces you'll note that they're almost 100% attached to the flat of the floor pan.

Yes, as you can see I posted in that thread as well. I even asked you a question, you never responded :/ If I could get more details on your setup I may go that route.

Bingo! Yes, sir. I love it. There is hope. Did you use the 1G OEM brackets?

This is really hot...what kind of brackets did you use?

Anythings possible. Don't ask yourself where you can BUY brackets. Ask yourself how you can MAKE brackets.

anyone know where to find deals on evo 9 mt seats? I had rsx seats in my gs

And here are some home-made brackets. Not finished in this pic.

I hate the stock bracket-construction of 2Gs. The 1Gs are so much more comfortable and look way better, especially in leather. But they are just a makeshift for the evo 7-9 recaros.
