For anyone who has or is personally running evo scan in their DSM, I was wondering how difficult is it really to use? Being that I spent a good 2 hours last night reading on it, and not knowing a lick of code, it was being compared to DSM link as Linux is to Windows.

I've fried my ecu so this is what initially turned me on to the idea of running an evo 8 ecu in my car with this setup but even one of the initial people who started this (Sam a RRE) even said that he still like DSM link over running an evo scan setup.

So if anyone has used both link and evo scan and can give their opinions this would greatly help me out on which route I should go.

You flash with ecuflash, not evoscan. But if want simple get DSMLink, its basically as simple as you can get.

I understand that, what i'm asking is how difficult it is to tune with evoscan in comparison...

I mean using ecu flash

Depends on how you learn and what you learn on. For me, ECUFlash is easier. And I hate trying to go through DSMLink logs.

That said, there are some videos that show you how to use ECUFlash on an Evo. Watch them, and you'll have a good idea how hard it is to use.

This right here is all you need to know, It's all about understanding tables and maps. Wire you in a 3bar map and log your wideband. The videos Absit posted tells you everything plus more anybody on here ever could. Watch them, watch them again. And after you watch them do it again :) haha.

Its packaged in the rar file on the main page of the link you posted. He tells you where the xml needs to go.

OP, you dont tune with evoscan. You log with it. All your tuning and flashing happens in ecuflash.

Yes thats true but did you actually try and follow the link to that .rar file? Im getting a 404 page not found error.

Have chris, money_pit send it to you. Send him a pm.

ceddymod died because, again, dsmers are cheap, and didnt want to support him. So, another one bites the dust unfortunately.
