Hey all! First I am sure this has been done but I am doing it again. Also for the haters out there, please please don't waste forum space by posting things like "your car will blow up" etc. With that said I am going to build a car using ONLY eBay parts.

I have a 91 eclipse 2.0l non turbo automatic: I am going to use as much ebay stuff as possible to test and see if it really is crap or not. I am swapping the car to turbo. I currently have purchased from ebay a complete gasket rebuild kit, timing belt, water pump, AFPR, 50 trim, t3/t4 tubular manifold, 35mm external wastegate. I am going to purchase a ebay 255lph fuel pump and a FMIC. The things I can make I will, like IC piping and exhaust etc.. The things that can not come from ebay I will have to purchase elsewhere, like injectors etc... I will take photos of the items and car and progress and post up as it goes along. I will be rebuilding the motor soon and putting in stock 1g turbo pistons and at the time converting it to a turbo. If anyone would like to see a ebay "item" installed and checked out just let me know and I'll see what I can do. Also MODS if this isn't in the correct section please move it. Thanks all and I'll get up some photos as soon as I can.:thumb:

Very interested in seeing how it goes, although ebay stuff is hit or miss, but I really want to know how well some of the stuff works.

The pump is seriously tiny. I'm kinda scared to use it LOL.
That's something you can't trust about eBay parts- is it really what it's advertised to be. I see plenty of examples of this on a daily basis from uneducated vendors who list their parts under a certain name just to sell it quicker. Hell even TalonDave and I tried out an eBay "GT35R" on his car which died in 400 miles...turned out the damn thing was a journal bearing turbo even though the listing and oiling instructions which came with the turbo said it was a ball bearing which required a low-pressure oil source and restrictor.

In the event that your "255" pump generates as much as a stock pump does, you'll melt down your whole setup because one part wasn't listed properly. That's one of the largest downsides of builds like yours.

Do you know how I can test it's flow or where I can send it? I have a logger and by the time it's running I should have a wideband so I can keep an eye on it. I was just curious about the flow myself.

Upgrading your car using only eBay parts?... hmmmm :hmm: I don't think that's ever been done in the history of the DSM community (sarcasm)

Read post 1 over and then read post 46. Come on man, he just posted that a few days ago. Plus please feel free to link to the posts where it's been done and or documented progress etc. Thanks man, Keith.

Well I wasn't bashing you for doing it, just saying in a sense it's nothing new, there's lots of DSMers on here that use almost nothing but eBay parts. I cannot show you a a thread or build log where someone actually documented it.. you'd be the first (that I know of)

Definatly subscribed to this thread. As stated before, there ARE many promising items on ebay, me personally. . . Would not trust anything with moving parts with ebay brands, but I trusted many others with absolutely no issues. It's your money, it's your decision. Do what you wish bro, and good luck. Keep us posted.

How is the ebay 255LPH pump doing? i have seen these but need feedback before spending the money and time

I had a boosted 420A and it did pretty good on 5psi. But the only problem was that it wouldnt go and spool up sometimes. Really wasnt sure what had happened... But it wont blow up bro. Or what you can do is swap a Evo engine in it and see what happens from there LOL. that hasnt been done yet

What fuel pump did you use? did you tune it or ran it with a missing link and fuel cut defender?

You definitely need to update this thread with some visuals (pictures) cause i am interested and i am pretty sure u would have tons of subscribers if we all had something to look at!

Can't wait to see how this turns out!

Sorry all, I promise pics are coming. Just been busy with selling and buying a house. Will try my best to get photos up. Btw I looked for eBay cams non name brand but had no luck. Anyone know where I can find eBay ones? If not I'll go with the bc ones.

Tell us how the ebay pump is doing!

Well I haven't installed the pump yet. I'm going to flow test it first to see how it does. I'm going to try to do that this weekend also. Are the OBX items actually considered no name eBay stuff? Reason I ask is that a company I worked for years ago could order obx parts through a couple different vendors.

I wouldnt say ebay stuff but def lower end. they have there good products and there bad products.

yea let us know how well the pump flows. I have a turbo on the way and if that pump works well then i will order it next

There is same from Nippon racing on eBay. Advertised as 272's I just typed in dsm and they come up a little ways down. Titled: dsm 4g63t performance camshaft jdm 14b 16g

So here are the pics of most of the items I have purchased. I don't have a pic of my FMIC because I just forgot it. I will take photos of the build and progress as I go. I will also get a side by side of the stock turbo pump vs the eBay 255. All the parts look great and build quality looks good, the only thing I am concerned about is the fuel pump size which if all goes well I will be flow testing today. Thanks all and let me know if you are looking for a specific photo or details on something, Keith.

Oh and sorry about the fuel pump photo, the only thing I had close to show size was a DVD. ;)
