Anyway I wanna pick this car up and sell my Evo so any comments concerns common issues involved with DSMs let me know

Sounds like a nice setup, just get ready for traction issues being fwd. Maybe look into an awd conversion.

Hmmm, yah I was made aware of that by some people with evos wondering why I would do that. How much do you think that would set me back?

I'm not a fan of buying someone elses project,or front wheel drive. I'd wait for a more stock Awd model.

i agree! i drive a virtually stock FWD and i always get wheel hop and traction issues. ESPECIALLY in wet weather!:notgood:

no its not WW its GG and yes I hear that a lot about the IX but I really want something a little less expensive for payment and insurance. I get paid crap being military enlisted

Also I was thinking since he is selling to me for Blue book value I can turn it into an easy DD with like 300hp and then part out the rest of it for some profit

LOL.. yeah, insurance costs tend to get overlooked.

Does this car in question have a LSD already? I did not see it listed in the modifications. IF it doesn't, then this car must be one hell of a ride to try to control the torque steer. The LSD will definatly help you out (since it will split the toque between both wheels as opposed to just one); but you will still be fighting for traction. It CAN be done... just takes a lot of practice and skill.

I have a few friends who love the turbo-mopars from the 80's. One is running high 10's in his Daytona with trap speeds of 136mph. So he should be faster; but the traction issue is killing him. So this year, he plans on trying some more suspension tweeks and different slicks.

Personally, I'd want to keep the EVO... but if the GS-T in question was done right and he can provide all the proof, it does sound like a decent car. See if you can take the car for a ride so you can get a feel for how violent and raw a FWD with a lot of power can be. I won't lie.. it can be quite fun. ;)

Thanks for the imput talon girl and yes it has LSD. I guess I will get a feel for the thing when drivin. I am just not feelin the evo right now with the stupid payments and insurance. Not to mension I have been fixing it since the day I bought it from themess ups of the previous owner

No problem. And I re-read the mod list and saw it in parenthesis. LOL. It'll still be quite a handful; but the LSD will help you.

I have owned a few FWD turbo cars before, so yeah.. it's defiantly a whole different experience. Wouldn't call it bad, tho.. :)

Sucks about the EVO having problems. Like any car; the key is in how the previous owner treated it.

I'll be completely honest. I miss my GST, I had a lot of good memories and a lot of bad horror stories when I had it. I didn't have too many mods done and I did get a nice bit of wheel hop if I didn't control the clutch.

I also drive a GG Evo IX. I would have to say there's no way I'd be able to go from my Evo back to a GST. I could drop back down into a GSX, just because I love DSMs that much. I'm also military enlisted and I do understand the pain of payments/insurance. (Do you have insurance with USAA by chance?). I'm about to hit my 6 year mark and I'm an E4 and I have to say the payments aren't horrible, and my insurance is quite decent ($150/month for two cars full coverage). Fortunately right now I'm deployed again which is going to let me knock off a good chunk of change so I can get the Evo refinanced into more polite payments, LOL.

Anyway I wouldn't pick up a built GST bro, I say wait for a nice GSX/TSi AWD or try and stick it out with the Evo. But if your budget isn't allowing you to do so then just go ahead and drop down into something that will make YOU happy! The car sounds like a beast and sounds like it'd be a good deal if you're getting it at KBB value. So in the end it's up to what you and your budget can afford.

Good luck, take it for a spin and make the decision from there! Greetings from Afghanistan btw :)

Twist

Ninja Edit: Just re-read through all the mods. Why is he selling it so cheap? KBB for ALL of that stuff? That's crazy, he could easily get three times the KBB value if he parted out. Something sounds kind of fishy! Just putting it out there.

Modifications devalue a car.

Sure he could make more money off of it parting it, but some people don't have the time or space to do that.

That's why it's important to throughly check the car out....

I know the FWD guys get tired of hearing this, but I would look for an AWD, especially coming from an Evo. You're going to be buying a tired car, so buy the best model you can. It'll likely take some money to get it up to snuff. I know, I just bought a 97 Talon TSi AWD. It's not in great shape, but it's decent. And it will take a chunk of change to make it drive like it should. But when it's done it won't be a bad daily driver.

Welcome to the site.

Another thing is you have to be very careful buying a highly modified car like that because if someone spends that much time and resources building a car like that I would think they wanna drive it and keep it after they have put so much time and money into it and many times cars like that end up for sale is when something breaks or something is wrong with it and people just try to sell their problem and make it someone elses problem so be very careful!!! Having payment would such and as much as I would love to own a WW EVO IX I just cant deal with payment, I bought my gsx bone stock and in mint condition, and I know everything has been done the right way, so if you cannot afford the evo sell it and look for a 97-99 gsx and good luck with your situation man!

Well actually I talked him into selling it, he didn't want to sell. He actually wanted to trade for an evo but I told him if he didn't give me cash with the eclipse then he wouldn't get the trade. So I offered up the option o just buying it

Just out of curiosity are a lot of the parts off that gst compatable with the gsx. Ofcourse the drivetrain andsuch wouldn't be but I am mostly talkin about the suspension and motor upgrades. He is giving me all the stock parts with the car so swapping wouldn't hurt for when I can find a gsx

I'm going to be very honesy with you. I bought a car that was sold well below KBB with 90% of the upgrades you listed. He said it ran with a battery (which it did, and boy did it run!!) and it would be all good. So I test drove it with a spare battery he had and then bought my own battery shortly after getting the car home. From that day forward the car has been nothing but problems due to all the mods that were proformed and installed incorectly. Bolts missing, boost leaks he fixed with gasket sealer, and all sorts of tuning issues due to his wacky MAFT settings. If he's selling the car for a steal with the amount of work put into it, it's more than likely going to be a problem car. I'd be very wary of this situation due to him wanting a straight trade with your EVO. I own a FWD car with right at 300whp and I'd say wait to find a closer to (if not completely) stock AWD. Your gonna be much happier and it will be built to your taste and needs.
