I have a bullseye 60-1 bolt-on turbo, which is watercooled. Lately I have been loosing coolent at a pretty quick rate (I fefill like once a week). My temperature gauge will flucuate up and down when my water gets low. If I have the correct amount of water it tends to stay pretty steady. Is this normal? Could I have a cracked head? ### help.

I do not see any leaks under leaks under the car. I just changed the oil about 200 miles ago and no there is no water in it to my knowledge. I havent checked the compression, but I don't seem to have boost leaks as it still pulls hard.

dam. i dont know much at this point but you could try to check your floor to see if there any water. i heard once someone was leaking watter inside of the car. from some water line related to the heater o r AC. i dont rebember. dont take my word for it, is just a wild guess

Have you checked around your oil cooler? That hose went bad on me and I had to replace it :notgood: just something you could check hopefully you figure it out

I have not, did this cause you to loose collant? I'm clueless as to where it is all going as there are no leaks under the car.

Checking compression will help narrow down the cause. If you have low compression it COULD mean a bad headgasket, but to be certain you would need to perform a leakdown test. Do you have more oil on your dipstick than when you initially filled it (coolant mixing with the oil and causing higher levels)? Its probably a bad hose. Check the coolant hoses going to the throttle body and all the other hoses coming off the coolant pipe. Check where your coolant pipe goes into your waterpump, there is an o-ring that may not be sealing them. Pull your timing covers off and make sure your water pump is not leaking. Are you sure it's not pushing coolant into your overflow tank and your overflow tank is full and leaking out through the hose?

Im sorry to say to say that I do not have the nessesities to check compression. Just installed a new alternator and the water pump seemed okay. I will check all of those other things ASAP

Yep check the others. They will be easier since all you need to do is look. If your overflow tank is full replace your radiator cap. Come back with any findings.

i bought a comp tester at harbor freight for around 30$

or, u can just open the radiator fill, and see if coolant shoots up when u start the car, from exhaust entering into it... it may also bubble, and after car is warm, steam and possibly shoot steam.

Had that happen to my truck it was the heater core. If your heater core is leaking you should smell coolant inside the car.

You can use a radiator/coolant system pressure tester to find an external leak without the car running. You can usually rent them from a local auto parts store.

Are you burning it maybe, should be a white sweet smell out of the exhaust.

Nope not burning it from the exhaust. Thank you for all for your help guys, but it is 10:25 over here, way too dark to check it out. I will get on it first thing in the morning :hmm:

sorry I'm just now getting back to you I'm pretty new to this forum thing. But yes it caused me to lose coolant everytime I drove my car it would leak afterwords and it turned out to be a bad piece of hose that comes from the oil cooler. You'd definatly be able to tell if this is what is causing your coolant leak

I don't know if I would trust the harbor freight gauge. There tools and such are very cheap. I have used an Actron and have had good luck.

I was leaking coolent through my thermostat housing, it was therefore unable to circulate back to my overflow. Thanks for all your input guys :hellyeah:
