Personally I think $130 for piping alone is a little costly when you can have an entire FMIC kit for around $100 more.

The best valve for your car is the 1G BOV- the flange on the piping in your link is drilled for both the 1G flange and a Greddy flange.

From that link that you posted about the intercooler pipe, shows that it is flanged for a 1g bov which is good if your not looking to go over 20psi. With the bov that is linked I would not trust that at all. You get what you pay for, and for 30 $ I wouldn't trust it. You could get the 1g bov if your looking to pay less for a decent bov. Other bovs are hks ssq, greddy type-s rs, tial......

Do you have a link for the FMIC at that price?

Is the install a headache?

Do I need a FMIC with only a t28?

Thanks

Sorry, I'm a newbie...

I found several thread/recommendations to just upgrade the top intercooling pipe and BOV this phase of upgrades.

what would be the best solution that won't break the bank?

Thanks

If you are on a t-28 I do not see any reason to get a fmic. You may lose a litttle power. Here is a fmic you may look into. Most members on the site ran/run this nowadays. But with you having a t-28, piping would be difficult.

Thanks.

From what I've read I don't need the FMIC ith the mods I have and am planning.
It was recommended above based on the price of the intercooling pipe upgrade.

Do you recommend upgrading the intercooling pipes (upper, loer or both)?

Plan on using 1G BOV. If I was to use an aftermarket unit, wwhat would be a good loww price recomendation?

Thanks

Sorry for the typo's.....my W on my laptop is not always working....:|

I have t25 today, will have a FP Big T28 (plan on orering this weekend from FP)
Instead of the T28, I recommend the Evo III 16G.

You'll save around $250 on this turbo versus the T28- it will spool at nearly the same RPM while providing better reliability and more overall airflow potential.

With the money you save you can buy a Punishment Racing FMIC, which comes with the J-pipe necessary to connect an Evo III 16G to the intercooler. The only other thing you'd need to buy at that point is an oil supply line for the 16G and you're set.

I base my purchases on what you're getting for your money....in this case, either an $850 turbo and $150 hard-piping for your stock intercooler, or a $550 turbo and $450 intercooler kit leaving you more room to grow with fuel mods and such.

While I would NEVER argue with Justin about turbo specs, I will say what he's suggesting, and what you do, really depends on what you're going to do with the car.

Thanks!
Ok...

This is a daily driver and not planning on taking to the track....

After research I came to the conclusion that a FP Big T28 with 500cc injectors and S-AFC or DSM link would suffice..

The only other reason I planned on the T28 was to keep the stock look for California Smog Inspection......They have a visual inspection (as well as hooking into the OBD during smog ck test) and I was concerned I would fail if I had a non-stock appearing turbo....

If I am way off base, please let me know...

Then I can't help. I don't know what CA's inspection rules are and I don't understand the point of modding a car that won't ever race.

If the EVO III will be much better for my application, then I should go that route instead of the T28.

I thought the T28 was good for 340WHP and that ould be enough for daily driving.

Well an Evo III 16G is definitely a stock-appearing turbo for a 1G owner....not a 2G- although I'm not a CA resident so I have no idea how far these Smog inspections go as far as the turbo having to look identical to the factory unit from the car.

If the Smog inspectors are so anal, aren't they going to give you a hard time about shiny polished intercooler piping?

Sorry, not planning to take to the track..just wanted low cost mods for street applicaiton.....

Right now I am not satified ith the power and want more.

From what I have read, the T28 stock fit and easy install is the best choice for my applicaiton...

I'm a nebie and may change my plans once I start moding, but fo the near future, just want a faster street car for daily driving (500 miles a week commute)..

So you want to get worse gas mileage and be more likely to break the law while serving absolutely no real purpose? Alright, good luck. Sorry I can't help.

Sorry for wasting your time:sosad:

I drive ~500 miles a week in traffic and over a windy mountain...

With varying driving conditions......Many times I need/want more power than I have on the stock set up...

Hope that's not a crime....:coy:

Thought this was a good vehicle to get good street performance with minimum mod's...

Maybe I shouldn't be posting on this site, since I'm not planning on being a racer....

How do you like your set up for street performance?

Thanks!

I remenbered that I can just do a pre-inpsection smag ck that is not reported to DMV..

If I fail, then I can convert back for the test (and then back again)..\\

I will go with Justins recommendation, since he is the expert and I will have room to grow..

Wwwho know's what the future holds......I amy change my mind about racing once I get the bug for more power.....just want a faster street car for the near term......

Sorry for the typo's.....forgot to use spell ck.....will be more careful in the future...

Thanks for all your responses......:thumb:

With the Evo III 16G and FMIC, you should be able to run around 18psi safely on 550cc injectors. With a good tune, there's no reason your car cannot be as fuel-efficient as it is in stock form...unless you're really ripping on it all the time, in which case be prepared for a couple of 15-18mpg tankfuls. LOL

OP I was going to go with an fpt28 also but after countless hours of research an evo 16g would be better, price wise and street wise.
It also depends on where you smog. The tech in my area aren't so anal and don't care much as long as it looks stock, in other words they tend to know more bout honda's and when it comes to 2g turbo's they know even less.
As intercooler goes. California passed a smog thingy in 08 stating that any car that comes factory with intercooler is okay. I have buddies who passed smog with front mount sti's and front mount gst's.
