so ive searched for a thread but it said nothing came up so i am just wondering how to do the test i read you can use soapy water but in order to do the test you have to somehow hold pressure but it never said how to do that so i need to know how to do that thank you

Go to your local lowes or home depot,They have anything you need to make it I just made one yesterday. All together it shouldn't cost more than 10 dollars.

3 to 2 Inch rubber pipe w/hose clamps
3 inch pvc plug
1/4 air
teflon tape

im looking for a way to do this with out spending money if possiable and what none of you have said is how i build the pressure witch is what i need to know i need to to know a simple way to build pressure to i can spray soapy water and see if i have any leaks thank you

hook what up the turbo? and if i have a vacuum leak cant i i just run the car and spray water?

Are you going to keep asking STUPID questions and ignoring the information you're being given? Lying about not finding boost leak test "how-tos" is bad enough.

my bad for asking stupid questions but go to the search put it titles only type in how do you do a boost leak test nothing comes up and as far as asking where to hook something up to isnt stupid if the person just say hook this up to "it" how am i supposed to know what "it" is

Use the Google search. It's not the search engine's fault, you're just putting in a series of criteria that would have to match 1:1 to turn up a result. Hit "Search", click in the Google box, and type "boost leak test".

This might be the most covered topic on here.

Fix your grammar, BTW. This isn't AIM.

Not sure about the boost leak testing, but he's going to be searcing a LONG time for a how-to on "vacumm" testing. ROFL

I will be building one tomorrow and will repost with the cost and photos. Hope this guy figured it out. If you have a turbo and dont understand what a boost leak is you should probably be doing some research on how turbo systems work. That would greatly decrease some of your questions. Do some research bud.

So I built a very basic BLT and still cost $20. I didnt go as cheap as I could but I wanted it to be quality even if basic.

Parts
1. 6" radiator hose 2.5"
2. valve stem
3. 2 hose clamps
4. gorilla glue epoxy
5. abs cap
6. 4" abs pipe

Took about ten minutes to slap together and two hours to let the epoxy set. I will be building one with a pressure gauge soon.

one with a gauge is an excellent idea, yours is simpler design than some ive seen which is good

Hey guys I fell upon this great channel on youtube from Jafromobile who works on a 95 GSX. He made this boost leak tester video to help us fellow DSMers out. This link will take you to the video on how to create a boost leak tester.
YouTube - Boost Leak Testing 101: Building the tool.

:D

You left out this one...

YouTube - Boost Leak Testing 201: Using the tool.

This is one test you can't do enough on a boosted car. It's critical to all other aspects of its tune. The gauge really DOES help. You get instant feedback about the health of your intake, and if you've got a massive air source it helps to know when to stop pressurizing it. The second video illustrates this very well.

I've got a boost leak right now that's costing me at least 60hp. It's nothing like the one in the video, but at 29 PSI, a small leak can make a big hp loss.

PS: don't use the spray adhesive like I did in the video.

Any time my car comes apart on the air path end I always boost leak test the car. I built mine out of material at Home Depot. Just went to the pluming section and made mine to mate up to a 4" inlet. Instead of using a tire valve stem I used a male air tool fitting so I could just plug my air hose into it.

It would be like giving money away. Having a boost leak is giving horsepower away!!
