All transfer case recall threads are merged here.

Does anybody have a number i can call to see if my cars had the recall done?thanks.

see what i dont understand is the leak is there that is evident, when i had my clutch and flywheel put in they drained the diffs and tcase and only a few drops of oil came out, this makes it very clear that the problem was still there and my car is in danger of locking up or failing soon. What are some tips to say when they call back in a few hours? I have the flow charts of what to do with certain symptoms that were given to mechanics to use for the recall and it shows what to do step by step. I can post it if anyone would like.

on the phone with chrysler co right now and they said to me that the recall is for the lifetime of the part, i am currently on hold waiting to talk to someone who can call the dealership and tell them this to get me my work done!

I just checked for recalls on my 1g and the recall is open, however mitsu wont touch it because its not a mitsu and chrysler can't get the parts anymore because they are mitsu parts....

Anyone have this issue?

Bringing this post back to life, just called Chrysler and have an appointment tommorrow for my 92 Eagle Talon to be looked at for 2 safety recalls. One is for timing belt and the other is for transfer case, both of which have never been done i will post back with results, just want people to know that this is still viable. Only thing that scares me is they asked if it was modified because if so they would not do the recalls? Im not sure how or why this would matter but i told them i had a few things installed for monitoring and left it at that. Can they actually deny you a safety recall because of modifications? this doesn't sound right to me, at any case i will have the NHTSA number handy for sure. Hopefully i can get this fixed on them since it has never been done on my car. Rambling finished just wanted people to know that it is still open.

It is what the dealer said. He said that the recall required a change of the timing belt and that the transfer case recall did not have any specifactions as to what needed to be done just that it could leak fluid which mine is after i just spent money on some Amsoil to fill her up 2 days ago. I noticed that it has been spraying out the tail since so taking her in tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Just something for the future, run Redline Heavy Shokproof in your xfer and rear.

:hmm: I have never heard of a timing belt recall. Are you sure about that?

Don't remember if it was a recall or TSB but the dealer replaced mine at no charge at 40k. Must have been a TSB because it's not in the recall database for 1991.

Thanks for posting this. I would love to find out what happens. I am pretty sure no recall work has been done on my transfer case either.

I really don't understand, why people go through all the trouble dealing with the stealerships for the T-case.

If their T-case isn't completely Fubar the 2 seals Click for them ---> Output Input(5spd) an new Yoke are really not that expensive Chick here --->The Yoke.

If you really want to be cheap you could always do the Ol' School VFAQ method of fixing the Yoke HERE

i have a 93 talan 5 speed awd turbo and the dodge dealership put me a new transfercase and yoke for free took 2 weeks tho.they have to chand it if it hasnt allready been done.

Thanks for taking the time to post those links!

Symbiote will keep you posted and if the dealership does give me any problems I will just do it myself but figured it can't hurt to have them look at it.

Years ago, I tried getting it done to my 90 TSi and they said it'd had been done and what was leaking was not gear lube, and they Charged to "diagnose" the problem. I said last time I'll ever go to them. So I bought the kit from MachV or extreme, don't remember and did it my self.

I just called and the dealer up here stated the only open recall was for a seatbelt buckle. Are they not doing the T-case on a 1990 GSX or was it an error on their part. The dealer searched for open recalls by last 8 of VIN

Take the time to read the link to 307th post in this thread as it says this is a lifetime recall...

Also, if it has been done before for I doubt that you can get it done again being that you have a GSX.
Either way it's not really worth the trouble to get this done unless you transfer case is seriously damaged.

I just replaced my yoke an seals yesterday with the parts I linked to above an it isn't at all very hard.
