Ok so about a day ago I noticed a strange noise coming from the front of the car. I was driving to work and going about 40+ turning left I hear a strange moaning or low grinding noise. My dad said it may be a wheel bearing so I though I would ask you guys before going out and buying two. it also makes the noise going slower I just didn't notice it as much. I am also looking this up as we speak. Thanks for the quick help!

If its rotational (loudness and pitch depends on rotational speed), then it sounds like a wheel bearing to me.

If you tend to notice this problem more when turning check your cv boots for tears and ensure the joints are adequately lubricated. If it grinds even when it goes straight, or even slow, then I agree that its probably a wheel bearing. my axles weren't torqued properly at one time, so check them. I suggest pulling the cotter pins if they're even on there and making sure the axel nut is tightened to 145-188 ft/lbs.

Well I think I know what the problem is now. Upon further investigation I lifted the car and took off both wheels and checked everything. I took my hands and placed them at 12 and 6 O-clock on the brake rotor and wiggled it to see if there was any play and it turns out on the driver side was really wiggly. My dad said that probably is the bearing for sure. I checked the passanger side and it was tight. I plan on putting my coilovers, rotors/pads and new powdercoated rims on this weekend anyways so it will be a good time to check and change these bearings. Maybe I will throw up a build thread of all of this. On to the next problem hopefully!
