He has to have a license to sell it legally. I would inquire about that but it seems legit. Price is quite hefty however.

Reported them both, the buyer needs to have a permit as well, not just a resale form.

See I was curious because there are seriously pages of them on there. It would be a little easier if I didn't have to convert. LOL. So you all think it's a no then?

You have to have a license to buy or sell any freon not just r12, I have a license for r134a which I got at WyoTech while I was there

first of all for those who are wondering Epa certification to buy and sell is very easy to get. With that said why would you want to keep the car on r-12, when it is nothing but outrageous to buy?If you need gas for it then you have a leak, so when it leaks out again your getting raped again. Convert the car to 134a and be done with it. Just by chance if in your case it is a slow leak and your not to concerned with it remember this, leaks never get better.

I would do the conversion. Cheaper, easier to service in the future, and you can buy 134a pretty much anywhere. It would be foolish to waste the money for a full R12 fill-up just to have it leak out in a year if you're unsure of any leaks in the system.

You can also find drop-in R12 replacements that do not require an oil conversion- we've sold a product at the parts store which I'm employed since I started there in 1999 under the EnviroSafe or Duracool 12a brand. I honestly think a full 134a conversion cools better, however.

Hmmm. I guess its settled then. Conversion it is. Thanks guys. Consider yourselves all helpful. ;)

R134a will be the easier route to go especially now because its always cheaper before the summer.

Something else for you to consider- I recently recharged my '90 a/c system with a product called Freeze 12. It's compatible with r12 and doesn't require a system flush or lubricant change. I measured my vent temp after the recharge and it was 50 degrees on an 85 degree day. I haven't had any problems with it in over 9 months now and it still blows just as cold as the day I recharged the system.

134a has steadily been on the rise- but nowhere near the price of R12. The 134a we sold last year for $6.95 a can is now $10.95 a can.

Prices are higher now because our money is worth less, thanks to the fed printing money with nothing backing it...R12 works better and is more efficient than anything that has been formulated to replace it...Within the last 6 months the rogue EPA has determined that R12 is not an ozone depleter...watch for it to make a comeback...
