Hey guys i have a 99 gsx, stock except for a k&n air intake. I wanna turn up the boost like the build order said but i'm having a tough time finding a good bov for the right price. I want a good one but do not really care about the name on it. also a good manual boost controller. any suggestions?

Alright, First of all. There is a search tool for a reason. Everything you are asking has been covered 60 bazillion times.

Anyways...

1. boost gauge
2. 1g BOV(you aren't going to be running enough boost anytime soon to make it leak. Greddy sucks, I should know)
3. Boost controller, only go to 15 psi MAX anything more will be hurting your engine by maxing out the injectors.
4. Either SAFC or DSMLink and a wideband
5. Fuel upgrades(Walbro or FP 255 pump, bigger injectors, afpr)
6. Bigger turbo and FMIC

I did use the search button and researched, and the tech guide up grade path thing say do 1-3 of what u did but turn up to like 16psi. thats all i want to do right now. i know to turn it up higher then that i have to upgrade the fuel system.

Ok, then you will be fine. Take care of those things and turn it up. As long as you don't go higher you will be ok. But if you want to go higher later on, which you will and trust us when we say that, you will need something to tune with and fuel mods and so on and so forth.

Ok so you changed your reply after I called you out.. You must be behind the times because the Greddy Type RS is knows for FAILINGGGG. The diaphragm is crap man. And if you crush a 1g BOV its been proven up to 30ish psi.. :nono:

Ill take a 1g BOV painted metallic and purple of a Type RS 100 of 100 times

+1, I have an RS BoV and it blows, at first I was getting surge and now it doesn't hold boost correctly after I "fixed" it. Over all not worth it, I'm still running it until Meat sends me his old BoV.

OP: I have a 1G BoV and boost controller I can sell you, just let me know.

I got a Hall Man Pro Rx MBC and it works great!:thumb: - Ryann! :talon:

Since you are looking to not turn up the boost very much you can always just buy a cheap ebay one. I got a ebay MBC and when it was tested it held 22 PSI before it wasn't effective anymore. It was only 5 bucks shipped and I've had no problems with it for over a year now at 15 psi.

1g BOV
AFPR
255 FP
FP 17psi Wastegate actuator(worth it)
Cheap mods that work well.

If your car is stock except for the intake, then adding an aftermarket BOV will require modification of some sort, such as an UICP.

Or... for a substantially reduced cost, you could add an evoIX bov. They attach in the same manner as the oem 2G valve.

I have a 1G OEM BOV I bought brand new from my Mitsubishi dealer and crushed it correctly. I vacuum tested (with a vacuum pump) as well as boost leak tested and it held 28 psi all day with absolutely no issues. I am willing to do it for $65 shipped, it is in perfect condition and I still have the receipt for it (paid $100+). I have 100% feedback, so rest assured. Let me know if you are interested

hey OP, have you tried the boost control soleniod restrictor removal yet? Did it to mine years back and went from 12 psi to 15, and 15 is being the MAX you would want to go without proper supporting mods. +1 on Josh, the 1g bov will be fine for you, I have a greddy type rs and it holds boost fine, BUT, I know ALOT of peopkle who have had them fail...I think I'm the only one that got a good one LOL http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art.../185405-bcs-restrictor-removal-explained.html do this and it will net you 1-4 psi, so you can save cash for porper supporting mods, then, buy a boost controller
