I had this posted in the electrical forums but absolutly no one had any input. Maybe i'll get more attention here. Sorry mods :coy:. I just cant have my car broken into.

Alright, it all started yesterday afternoon. I decided to leave my windows down b/c it was nice and sunny. As i went to go back into my car to drive away, i tried to roll up the windows and only the drivers side went up...

Today it is pouring rain, and i'm going to a parade later today. Does anyone know how i can get this window back up? I checked all of the fuses, they are all good. So my guess is the window motor is shot.

I'm going to a mardi gras parade, there is going to be a TON of drunk people doing stupid shit, and i don't want one of them to break into my car via open window and steal my headunit, etc.

Does anyone know any way to manualy get the window up?? I'm stumped,
I've tried just pulling it up, but that did nothing..

have you tried to pull the door panel off? i did it when my window went off track had to pull the panel off to put it back on track. thats bout the only way to do it.

Sometimes you can tap on the motor with a hard object to get it to turn over. When window motors go bad they get "dead spots", and if you give it a good wack in the right spot the motor may work enough to get the window up. Obviously you have to remove the door panel to do this.

Thanks guys, i'll try giving it a good whack with a wrench. I already tried the other approach and it got me nowhere.

Just like silver said. If you press the window button and theres no sound, it's most likely gonna be the window motor is frozen. Take the door panel off and tap the window motor a few times to see if it will free up, but it's just a temporary fix, you will have to replace it or you can usually buy rebuild kits for them. Another thing you can try with the door panel still on is hold the button down(with power on) and give the door a good slam, sometimes this can free up the motor a little bit, but once again it's a temp fix

I would recommend NOT doing this if you have a problem with your windows being loose and rattling like mine do <.<

Hope this helps.

You don't have the Window Lock switch pressed which prevents passenger window operation do you?

No I dont, I think the motor just finally quit.

Haha, my windows rattle so i'm not going to slam the door to try to get it to work.

I gave the motor like 8 good whacks and it didn't do anything. :aha:

I ordered my new window motor, but until it gets here, does anyone have any idea how i could manually get it up?
