Well by way of work I wont make it, but on the upside looks like the valve cover is the culprit as its got a nice crack in it. Did a compression test this morning and reads are 160, 160 ,150 and and 155 . So gotta find a new valve cover, change oil and double check for water just in case but seems to function just fine , with rad cap off no coolant leaves and flows just fine.

Well, what do you know, there are some cool as DSMers in Phoenix/Avondale/Glendale! And a good bit of them came out of the woodwork to shoot the shit at my pad, and watch us get nothing done, LMFAO. What started off as a possible disaster (took forever to get car here thanks to me and Jesse) ended up being pretty cool. Big thanks to Jesse's buddy Flood who came through with his Dodge truck o' fury. Thanks to everybody for coming out, it was cool meeting all you guys. Lets not make this a one time deal, we got too many cool people here not to go shoot the shit and get out a bit.

Hell yeah, how did the car go? You still thinking about doing those tests to my car monday or tuesday? Nice meeting all of you too.

We getting back at it tomorrow. A few other thigns arose and decided to save it for tomorrow instead of doing it out tonight. So JY tomorrow too. And then doing a BLT on my car and doing exhaust studs and painting a VC. If your free tomorrow too Greg dont hesitate to come, I am sure Paul don't mind, and we can do a blt on yours while we still got my tester to keep from having to go get another.

My old ass was tired by 7ish, I could of kept going but I'd rather work in more optimal conditions. Im down to do it whenever man, Monday or Tuesday is cool with me. We will be there tomorrow too if for some reason you want to drop by. Otherwise shoot me a PM what time on Monday or Tuesday you want to stop by and we will look your car over. (If you want to stop by Home Depot and get a rubber cap to cover the inlet of your turbo, that's cool. If not, we can just ride out there together and pick one up.) The BLT that Jesse has may work, but I'm worried about it popping off due to it being a little big for the T25.

Oops, keep forgetting it is a t25. I am sure we can get it tight enough to keep it on...but maybe it would be best to get one that actually fits.

And get to bed Paul, we got an early day tomorrow at 10!!! LOL

Yes. I have painted alot of cars. Ive worked at alot of body shops here in az. Doing body work and painting cars is what i do for a living. I do mechanic work on cars the sides at my shop at my house. Theres a few dsm buddies here on the site thats been to my shop and have seen my work.

No we got it done bout an hour ago. We we went to the JY to get a valve cover and then got to it. TB came out good and stuff, everything else is good as well. We boost leak tested it, Fixed some exhuast studs and gaskets.

Don't forget to wipe down that blue belt I dirtied. :)

Hey sorry i could not make it. Well i had got her all done thursday and friday night she decieded to skip time lucky i wasnt driving but i think i still bent some valves as i put her back on time n still runs like shet hopefully i do a compression test before i tear it apart again

Damn, I was just talking to Yiddie today about the ball joint recall! Man that sucks, sorry to hear it.

I'm always messing around with my clapbox, your more than welcome to come by anytime and shoot the shit. I'd like to plan a good Phoenix DSM/Evolution meet here this spring with a real turnout, I think we can pull it off.

Thanks man! Im going to the dealer tomorrow to order the lower control arms (both) for both sides and planning on doing the work myself. Is it alot of work?
As to the met it sound like a great idea i have a cousin with a gst that is a member here as well so just let us know :thumb:

The lateral arms are easy to replace, but do you know there is a lifetime recall for those arms/joints on all 2gs? Call service and ask them to run the VIN of the vehicle and see if the recall has been performed before. My 1996 TSi had not had the recall done as of 08/09, I called the dealer, found out the recall could still be done, and I didn't even have to worry about it, I drove it there and told them "fix my shit for free, thanks". Do a quick search on "2g balljoint recall" and you'll probably see tons of info. When these cars were new they had tons of problems/lawsuits due to people crashing their cars after balljoint failures.

Otherwise, all you have to do is jack it up, pull the wheel, split the joint from the knuckle, and remove two more nut/bolts and it's out. If you guys aren't confident to do it and the dealer won't, shoot me a PM and maybe we can work something out with getting em' swapped real quick.

Welcom man. Ya we are a pretty little legit group of people.

Paul, I say we should try and set up a DSM/Evo meet. The thing is though, we can't make it look like a few local guys are setting it up. We got to make it look like it is an actual even that happens and not a "trying to get something together hope people show up" sorta thing. So we need a place, a few vendors, and legit flyers to post up and build a link to some sort of free site w/ info on it for people to follow or something. I know an Amsoil Dealer that would come and set up booth. I may be able to talke to Some tuning shops to see if they would come. Maybe get a few performance shops and accessorie shops from the valley into it? Then maybe see what a rent out fee would be for a track, then figure out pricing as for as entrance.

P.S. Do we charge vendors to be at our place? or do we have to pay them to come? LOL

Hey guys! I wish I would have checked this on Sunday! I would have gone back to help out. Good to here the car is running well. Maybe we can work on my car next ;)

I do promotion for bars and stuff every once an a while, so I will see if I can get us a place for a meet. I'll do the fliers too.
