just got my second dsm, pretty much stock except for boost controller/turbo timer.
i was just wondering what would be the best bov to get for it..?
i do want it to be vta, but i also want some good sound.
and would i need to get new upper intercooler pipe if im thinkin about throwin a bov on it?
thanks guys :thumb:

If you want sound Turbo xs rfl !!! by far the loudest.
If you want performance HKS SSQV.
IMO
yes you will need new uicp for both check out the on site vendors they sell the kit usually. Comes with bov & and corresponding ic pipe. Make sure the ic pipe is the correct diameter.Remember to vta you need to have a maf translator and gm maf !!!

To be honest the stock BOV is plenty good enough. It's not the best Idea to vent to the atmosphere unless your car is setup for speed density (AEM, DSMlink V3, DSmap). If you insist on getting an aftermarket BOV in my opinion a TiAL is the best money can buy.

You wanna hear of a great bov for you car? I got it, wait for it.... The STOCK ONE. :D Really though, it has been on quite a few fast cars, holds boost just fine. They also sound great, especially when the boost is turned up, which I wouldn't suggest until you have a few other mods done to the car. There is nothing to gain by venting, but if you want to do it right get either ecmlink or a mass air translator.

sorry guys! i meant to say i DONT want it vta :ohdamn:
my bad. im just looking for one that could be recirculated, but still have some sound?
or would i be best of with the stock one?

Brand new member to the site whose first post is a question in regards to what blow off valve to use. Who would've thought?

The one that is on the car right now is literally your best option.

haha sorry man! my last dsm was a NT so im new to turbod engines, just tryna learn what i can

Not to sound like a #ick but I'm pretty sure that most of your future questions could most likely be answered by using the search bar, this sight is full of info.

Yes search through the threads on questions you have.. there is a search engine on here that searches over all threads and posts! If you cant find exactly what you need then you come ask! If keeps from the site being overloaded with threads that pertain to the same topic!!

Other than that you can also look into following the Upgrade path to now what you next move is for performance!!

Tech Guide - DSMtuners

and also if you REALLY want to buy another bov, i would go with the Forge! They have one that vents and one that recirculates! But these are said to be loud and have a good sound, functional, duriable, and at a decent price!

My crushed 1g is holding up a nice 25psi daily driven. I have it veted to atmosphere and it sounds like the HKS ssqv. I havnt had an issue with it yet. Once I do I will probably go over to a Tial.

I used the stock bov, not crushed entirely properly up till about 470whp at 25psi and it held damn near solid. I only upgraded to the Tial because I was intending on running speed density and venting and raising the boost more.

something i was also wondering. I am set up already for VTA and using the stock BOV. i was told past certain levels the stock BOV begins to leak. and what is the major difference in stock and crushed stock as i have never seen a crushed

You shouldn't be crushing a 1G BOV in an attempt to make it hold better- by doing so, you're making the spring tension greater; meaning the engine's vacuum will have a more difficult time drawing the valve open under low boost. This may cause compressor surge on the turbo- especially if you have performance cams.

Instead, do the Dodge Garage Mod to your valve. This eliminates the valve's quick-release feature, meaning the pressures on both sides of the chamber will be equal, and there's literally no way for the valve to leak. This is also a better option because you're able to hook the quick-release feature back up while doing low-boost street cruising, where you cannot reverse a crushed valve...once it's crushed, it's ruined.

The stock BOV is a good one but I have heard that the Forge BOV is loud if your looking for sound.

Ah thanks for the explanation. ill look into the mod when i get some more free time from work.

In that case Greddy knockoff ( surprisingly well made actually ) BOV for sale?ROFL

Glad to hear you made the right choice with staying with the 1g BOV. In the future when you need to divert more air from a larger turbo consider getting the TiAL QR (if you don't have the proper mods to vent) or even get the Turbosmart Universal Fit BOV. You can recirculate it now and down the road you can change the fitting out to vent. I would stay away from the HKS SSQV or any knockoffs of it and the Greddy BOV has a high chance it will be leaking on you a lot.
