So I decided to install an aftermarket boost gauge in my 1g talon a while back. I put it on top of the dash on the very left side kind of close to the door. My problem is that when I am boosting the needle vibrates and it gets pretty loud. I was wondering if this was normal or if it's my gauge or my gauge location

I'm pretty sure it's the needle vibrating and not part of the mounting that is vibrating

Theres no way you should be able to hear your boost gauge needle vibrating

What brand guage is it? If it's mechanical, the needle is attached to a bourdon tube, and will not "vibrate."

I have the same issue with my boost gauge mounted on my a-piller everything is fine right up until I start building boost, then the needle starts to rattle and buzz. It even needle swings back and forth a bit while its rattling under boost and at idle its as still as a rock... weird...

This sounds like boost leak.

I know I have a couple small leaks but that should not effect the boost gauge needle to a point where it would vibrate inside the gauge housing... which it shouldn't do to begin with.

At least for my situation (not trying to thread jack) I can hear the needle vibrating loudly from within the gauge and see the needle vibrating. Not like wildly from side to side but its quivering in place and only under boost.

Where did you tap into for the boost source? Try moving it to a more stable location, such as direct to the intake (if it is not).

My 2008 Mazdaspeed3 does the exact same thing (pretty sure it has no boost leaks), I attribute it to being tapped in right next to the bov (not 100% sure). It is a Prosport gauge, and holds solid except for under max boost.

It is a mechanical boost gauge. It's an equis boost gauge from O'Rielly. I am positive it's the needle vibrating and not the vacuum line or the mounting hardware. I read a few different install guides on the forums and I followed them. I secured the vacuum line in the engine bay to several different locations so I don't think it's what's causing it. I think it might just be a bad gauge

I have had it for about a month and a half. I also just noticed something else today. When I am on the freeway and I let my foot off the gas it reads 25 in hg and I was wondering if that's normal. At idle it reads 19 in hg

I will try to take a video of mine today. I have the same gauge... interesting. Only I got mine back in May of 2008. Just recently (last couple months) started rattling.
