Well after some recent events, where myself and quite a few others purchased items from a member on here, and never received our purchases, I thought it would be a good idea to get this out there. We also never heard from the seller after many attempts to contact him. He asked for the money thru PayPal as a gift, to avoid the charges. I, myself paid the charges, but others did as he asked and sent the money as a gift. After communicating with them through PMs, we found out there is nothing PayPal will do, which isn’t much of a surprise. I also attempted to file a PayPal dispute, since I paid the fee, but because the seller was not verified, I’m also unable to get my money back. I sent the money using my PayPal app on my Droid, which at the time I couldn’t see that he was not PayPal verified. I didn’t figure this out until I actually logged into PayPal on my computer.

So I have two reasons for posting this. One is to make others in the community aware of the issues we have run into, so that you all can learn from our mistakes. And two, is to hear others experience, and see if there is any legal action we can take against this member.

I would love to throw his name and info out there for everyone to see but per the rules of the site, I am unable to do that without the post getting deleted. I did put some very negative feedback on his profile, but that is as much as I can do at the moment.

Basically, what I want to get out there for all other members of the community is a reminder. A reminder, that when using PayPal, you have no course of action if you get ripped off, unless you pay the PayPal fees. Also make sure you select that you are purchasing a good or a service. Make sure the person is PayPal Verified, and review the seller’s feedback rating. All of this should be done prior to sending any money. I would also recommend getting the sellers phone number and call them before sending any money, that way you know the number is not fake. Keep in touch with the person via email, PM, or over the phone throughout the process. Also be sure to have the seller ship with UPS or Fed-ex or something that they can give you a tracking number and you can track the package.

I just hate seeing people of the community being ripped off by members that take advantage of the trust that we put in eachother. I know I don’t like giving away money and I know none of you do as well. Especially not to somebody that is supposed to have a common interest with all of us. I find it extremely low for someone to do this and it gets under my skin something fierce. All I have to say to this person is Karma is a bi***, and I hope she bites you HARD!

Another protection with paypal is to use a credit card, NOT A BANK DEBIT CARD as your funding choice since if there is an issue you can also dispute with the credit card company.

Deffinately did not know that. Thanks for the info. This could be very helpful to a lot of people as well

Ya karma's a bi*** an I hope she gets him for all the shit that the person got us all for

3000gt forums has a couple of known scammers and that was a lot of peoples only recourse to get cash back.

Well, I was ripped off for 30 bucks for 2g clear corners from dsm member at another forum but he is a member here.

I gave him a bad review at this site another said he was a nice kid?? But he still took me for 30 bucks do replies to my pms except for one where to send the money.

Made a dispute with paypal. It came down to paypal only gave me the paypal fee only which a dollar if still money in his paypal they would've sent it back. I guess you can say you've been screwed twice, cause you only get the fee back.

Yes i learned this the hard way, Rules of thumb.

Understanding its hard for anyone to start good feedback on a forum when people wont buy the parts they post cause they have 0 feedback.

Make sure the person is paypal verified, If u have the choice to.

If u have a credit card use Paypal but charge it to your card i have successfully got money back this way.

And we all have to take risks but i try to buy cheeps things from people who have great feedback.

I save the bigger purchases for people who have good feedback.

No advice to give except be very careful... Everything the op listed to do is apparently a must now which is really sad there are people in this community that need to make a buck that bad. I am glad paypal has been good to me, I have always gotten my full amount back from disputes elsewhere. I am sorry to hear about all of you that this happened to.

would this fellow possibly be selling 3kgt rotors and calipers?

Im not sure. PM me and we can talk.

Also Thanks for the imput guys. I really dont like being ripped off and dont like others being ripped off as well. Its sad that this is how some people make their money

Hey there everyone, as some of you know, I to was one of the members that got ripped off. The crappy part is I got taken for $200. I paid the fees, but didnt pick goods and services on accident so I got screwed also. It was a fluidampner. I dont understand why we aren't allowed to post this users name so that he can't screw over anymore people. I wish that the mods could fricking BAN his A$$ but I know this isn't there problem, but it just sux that he listed a whole slew of parts and didn't actually sell one single thing and made off with everyones money. Someone on here has to know his name and info and the ones of us that got screwed should take some kind of recourse and a) either confront his punk a$$ and get our money back or worse :) or b) file some kind of lawsuit. I have the money to purchase this part again, but I know not everyone can and its not fair thats this scum is ripping hard working people off. Again guys lets really get together here and try and figure something out.

Everyone can just look at who has said they were ripped offs profile, and can see the feedback they have posted for others. Thats how I found out who it was. That sucks they ripped so many people off. Sorry he just took your hard earned money like that.

Stuff like this sucks for people like me, I have no feedback and it’s hard for me to sell stuff because of that. I understand that if I’m selling something and i have no feedback and someone else is selling the same thing the buyer is going to go straight to the guy with feed back but in the end it just sucks for me

But i guess i just have to be patient and wait for acouple people to trust me and buy stuff and leave good feedback :hellyeah:

I'm really surprised you guys didn't take the "send money as gift" line as a big red flag. The only people I have had ask this or have asked this of are good friends. I don't care who they are, what feedback they have, etc. - if I'm buying a part from someone I don't know, they're paying the fees so I at least have piece of mind if something goes wrong that I can file a claim.

Has everyone read our tips on how to prevent from getting scammed?

This sucks to hear fellow dsmtuners getting ripped off. I’ve looked through the classifieds from time to time but haven’t purchased anything yet because I was afraid of getting scammed. I hope everyone will be more alert with future purchases

Whats worse is when you get ripped off you have to wait to get your money back and no part.
Then what I had happen was the next time I tried to purchase a part via paypal to an individual, paypal wouldn't allow it because its considered a risk. So then the next guy you try to buy from does all the work, emails, pictures, text, pm's, etc with you then paypal bails on you. And your potential parts friend thinks your a lame azz just yanking his chain.
