I am finishing up my turbo/megasquirt 420a. I am hoping for high boost levels and have a motor that was "supposedly" all forged, crower cams, etc. It seemed legitimate because he had all of the boxes from the parts, and knew the exact specs. i asked the previous owner for pics of the motor build and he gave me the email address to the guy who owned it before him. I found the guy on facebook and had a nice conversation with him. I feel very uncomfortable now about continuing any farther with this motor until i know for sure it is forged.
Here is the facebook convo i had with the original owner:

Hello, i have a 97 eclipse gs that i traded a motorcycle for from owner JP Carter. I can no longer find a facebook page or anything of his with pictures of the car. Im just looking for a little more information about the car and i was given your e-mail address. Were you the previous owner before him? Any info would be great. Im building a high horsepower car out of it and i just would like to know a little more about the cars history. I was told it has forged pistons and rods and i need to know if this is true before i invest more time and money if the motor has the original cast parts

Are you the one who built the car? Do you have specs of the build? like what compression ratio the pistons were, cam size, etc. Anything i should be aware of? As of now i have a gt35r knockoff turbo, fmic, 1200cc inectors, runnin e-85, MS as standalone ecu, walbro 255lph pump, and pullin the trans soon for an lsd

Parts in the car when I sold it to him:
Eagle H beam rods
Wiseco 10.5:1 forged pistons
Crower cams - Stage 2, i think they were 240s
Brian Crower springs and retainers
PT Cruiser rockers and lifters
ARP bolts
Unorthodox light weight crank pulley
95 neon clutch conversion:
non-modular stage 2 Comp Clutch and light weight flywheel
Rebuilt transmission
Assembled by a local machine shop
What's in there now?? No idea, I sold it to him two summers ago and he blew it up 6 weeks later.
Get receipts from him if you want to know. I don't trust him as far as I can throw him, and I've known him for over 15 years.

The local machine shop did the build of the engine internals, I assembled it all in the car, there should be pics of it all going in on here.

he blew it up? he told me the ecu was bad!! He did seem somewhat shady. He promised receipts but i have yet to see any. ive had the car for a few months now. When i first got it it would start but idle rough, and not run when in gear. After the megasquirt it ran alot better, and through the gears. I have yet to fine tune and am still finishing the downpipe and stuff before i can drive and tune. Do you know for sure if he blew it up, or if any motor work was done by him? sorry for all of the questions but i just want to make sure im not setting myself up for disaster after i start cranking up the boost

also it had 150lbs of compression in all four cylinders, im really hoping the ecu was the cause of the problem and it was never blown up because once i removed the old ecu and went standalone with megasquirt it ran

I know for a fact he blew it up, I saw it, he spun some low end bearings, I don't remember which ones, and he spun the cams, the motor has been completely apart since I had it built.
I know why too, I sold it to him with < 500 miles on the rebuild, I immediately started getting calls that he was driving it like an idiot.

150?? When I got it from the machine shop it was way higher, 170-190, but that was 2 years ago

ouch, im hoping its still forged internals. is there markings on the rods or pistons at all where i could see from underneath by pulling the oil pan to make sure its still forged internals?
end
Here is a link to my build if you are interested:

What i would like to know is, is it possible to pull my oil pan and look at the rods/bottoms of piston and distinguish between stock and eagle rods and wiseco pistons??? also, are there marks on crower cams where i can distinguish them from factory cams?
